I found one of my dream cars for sale

well close to it. I always wanted to build a 911 motor swap 914 with 911 turbo brakes for a track toy. That's a 911 RS motor in there with 329 HP and 279 ft-lbs. of torque. It should move a 1900-2000 lb car pretty well and I'm sure the brakes are ore than enough for a car that light.

Looks to me like it has a fully structured roll cage in there. Probably more to it than meets the eye, and it's a Porsche so...

Relax, bud. When the dude with a drag Honda and a boosted daily that has had fast Honda's for years AND fabs his own parts tells the new kids on the block that they're doing it wrong, it's time to step back and learn something.

Its expensive, but to buy allt he same parts and build it yourself, you won't save much money. Porsche parts ain't cheap.

If I were to buy another 914 to turn into a fun weekend car and track toy, I might look into the aluminum block SBC swap or the 2.5 STI motor swap instead of an air cooled 3.6 or 3.8. Air cooled Porsche stuff just isn't cheap if you want good power levels. The SBC might be more reliable at 400 HP than the STi motor, but I don't know what the overall weight difference would be compare to the aluminum block/heads SBC with the intercooler and turbo and additional parts of the STi motor in there.

I've also seen people swap in Buick Grand National V6 turbo motors and Ford 2.3 Turbo motors into 914's. I don't know if I could afford the brakes that would be required with the power levels of those motors. I've seen 2.3 with stock internals make 2500-3000 lb cars run 10's in the 1/4.

I'm not a big fan of cars with a bunch of electronic gizmos to make the driver think they have more driving skill than they actually do. Also for a track day car, maintenance on a GTR would cost more for a few track days than maintenance on this car would cost for an entire year of track days.
