Fakeblood316's '97 hardbody, low.....goin lower

Over the winter I sold that pos golf I had, and needed to buy something a bit nicer and more reliable. My friend was selling this truck and I got it for a pretty good price for the condition. I didn't really have any plans to do anything to it but fix it up a little and then I got the idea to put it on airbags for my senior project. I'm making this thread now to help me keep track of everything and actually organize all this information. And I'm sure someone will find this helpful for future projects like this.

This is how I bought the truck, with ugly american racing wheels, a terrible tint job, and a lot of little things wrong with it.

Halfway through the summer, drove down to philly and traded my old wheels for these much nicer frontier wheels, can see I tinted the tails and ditched the tint.

After a half a day of grinding stripped bolt, the bed finally came off and showed how clean the frame was

Here's a pic from last night, no more emissions in the rear. No more brake proportioning valve

The tires that came with the wheels already had a lot of camber wear, so I had a little fun with no bed before taking it off the road.

Another little update, no more gas tank in it. Would have remounted it and mounted my air tank, but it was way too hot, way too early to be welding. So I was happy just to get that out.

Looks like a clean truck to start with. Always loved mini trucks that are layin' frame.

Nice truck.

Taking the bed off might be the only way to get the tires to spin. My buddy has one and it won't even spin in the rain.

really? I'm not saying it's a burnout machine, it is however terrible in weather.

I've been visiting family for labor day, and it was way too hot to work on it last week. All I got done is dropped the fuel tank. This week sometime I'll remount that and my airtank and start taking more pics. OHHH and I found some awesome seats out of a honda that i'll make some brackets for, no more bench!!!

Being an auto its pretty hard to get the tires even to chrip, even power braking it.Slamming it into drive was the only way to get em to spin.

Been trying to get him to drop a sr/rb into it....he's more set on a 383 sbc.

ANYWAY....get some pics up man.

Thing is getting close to having the back done, need to get my brakes figured out, bag brackets, notch, wire the compressor. But the four Link is all welded in now, and awesome as far as the change in pinion angle. Finally got the gas tank wired up and ran the new fuel lines and she ran for the first time since august
