Since I live right down the street from a Clear tower I am going to give the service I try. I already purchased a home modem and have a good signal (4-5 bars). The problem I am having is getting it set up with my LinkSys router running DD-WRT.

The Clear modems default IP is 192.168.15.1

I tried setting up my router as a DHCP forwarder, gateway off (since the Clear modem does all this) and set its IP to 192.168.15.2. I then have DHCP reservations for my laptop and Xbox. The problem I am having is the Clear modem keeps giving the router a WAN IP of 192.168.15.5. I even tried setting up a reservation at 192.168.15.2 for the router, but it still gets the dot5. I don't know what is going on, it was a lot easier with a FiOS connection or Comcast where the modem/ONT doesn't do any of the DHCP stuff.

I just ran through this quickly so if there is any other info that someone would need to help address this situation, let me know.

IF the clear already hands out DHCP addresses then just use a switch?

I don't have a switch that can also be a wireless AP but I have the DHCP server in the router turned off as well as disabling it to be used a Gateway, since the Clear modem would do that as well so it is basically acting as a switch.

Try these steps:

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php...s_Access_Point

Pretty much if that Clear modem is acting as a DHCP router, then setup the linksys router with DD-WRT as an AP only. I would plug the modem into one of the switch ports and once the linksys router is setup as an AP only (following those steps in the link) it should do the job...

pretty much setup that linksys router with an IP of like 192.168.15.2 and tell it to point to 192.168.15.1 as the DNS/Default gateway. Also tell the DHCP forwarder to be 192.168.15.1

The DD-WRT firmware rocks. I set tons of routers up using this firmware to bridge networks together wirelessly.

I figured it out a few hours ago. I tried a bunch of different setups except for disabling the WAN and using the WAN port as a switch. I guess I was used to the standard firmware where disabling the DHCP server did basically the same thing.
