I spent two days at VIR with Trackdaze...

I was at Virginia International Raceway with Trackdaze on August 27th and 28th. It was a fun two days. I haven't been to VIR since 2010. It took me a little while to remember everything I learned about the track 2 years ago.

The second day, TRG Motorsports was there with their Grand AM Porsche 911's. They ran with my run group and also the instructors. Its amazing how much faster their cars are than almost anything that is street legal or streetable. They made the GTR's and Vipers look slow. I'd come out of oak tree and be going down the back straight. Then I'd turn to look and see them coming down the hill on the track approaching Oak Tree and they would be past me before I got half way up the hill. "All I could think was, How did you catch up so fast!?" One of them went off course in front of me at turn 1. He got back on course and passed me before the climbing esses.

I loaded a new tune before the first day and I think my car was down on power a little compared to what I had on the car previously. However the car ran great. I did wonder about how the car was running one session when the miata that came out of Oak Tree behind me wasn't dissapearing into a small dot behind me. Then I saw that miata with the hood open after that session and it had a big supercharger bolted to the motor.

Trackdaze gave everyone their data tag lap timing system during tech inspection to test the system before they add new features.I'd usually only get a few laps each session where I'd have relatively clean laps and not have to slow to pass someone or slow to let someone pass me. However, I did notice that my lap times were rahter consistent when I'd get some clean laps. At this point I feel confident that I can do some changes to the car and see how it affects the car.
