Buy a new car?
my 97 monte carlo was totaled which leaves me with 5k$ from that. my 06 cobalt ss/na so far, is having at least 4500$ worth of work done to it, they still gotta get under the hood and all the good stuff, but so far it seems fixable. i have the cobalt paid off to about the blue book value. my question is should i trade the cobalt in for a new car and use the 5 grand to put down? i would def wanna not spend more than like 23k$ on a new car. or should i put the 5k into the balt? its an auto and i really want a manual now. and also, i dont know how it is gonna feel after being fixed. kinda wanna just start off new again and not have a refurbished car or do i just pay more off on the balt or maybe just save it? if u do think new car, which car should i get? ive had my share of problems with my balt and i swore never to buy another american car again, but a supercharged cobalt is a good deal and pretty cheap. i also really like the new GTi and the wrx is nice but kinda pricey. |

with 23k you could buy an evo, sti, or mustang just fine. maybe one of those would be a cool next car. that or you could drive the cobalt until the sick new camaro comes out

me personally would probably get rid of the cobalt, i was never a fan of them personally...but as far as getting a gti goes....i would look into a r32, love them, extremely nice, quick, and hold their value.
on the other hand you could keep the cobalt put the 5k into savings...(ing direct has a 4% interest rate) you could make good money on that. or invest it somehow, perhaps into a house or something so you arent just pissing away 5 grand that you'll never see a return on with a car

Take that $5k and go snatch up this Gti. Put a couple grand and fix all the things it needs and you have an awesome fun car:
