Im right over the bridge and have done it, its not hard at all. Are you putting new shock on too? I would suggest it and get shock boots too. If you want I can talk to my roommate with a spring compressor maybe we can do it for you very cheaply.

i got aftermarket springs, shocks, and struts installed for like $225 i think. I would have attempted it, but I didn't have the time or the space to do it. Now I have my own house, so I ever have to do it in the future, i'll give it a try.

If only I was closer for you, I would do it cheap for you. I need more side jobs.
If interested in a little bit of a travel hit me up. What wrong with the engine in the Z? I have a '95 NA that I did a fair amount of work on when I first got it. It's for sale now... |

The first time had it done for $300. The second time I did it myself for the cost of spring compressors.

You can rent spring compressors from AutoZone. You pay the price of the tool when you go to rent it and get all of it back when you return the tool(s). There is no time frame either because if you don't return them they just keep the money as if you bought them.
I want to get a nice wall mount unit, but they are a bit pricey yet for me. |

It only takes about an 2 hours. Front turn wheel all the way to the side and clamp the spring with the compressor, loosen top 3 nuts, loosen lug nuts, jack up,, take off wheel, take off the brake line clip, remove the two bolts on bottom, pull shock out. Tighten down clamp more if you can, take off center nut and spring plate, take off compressor, put new shock boot on, put spring on, put spring plate on and tighten nut, compress spring, tighten more, put back in car.
I did the mine on my 240 with no spring compressor, just some duct tape and a brick wall. |
