steering rack issues

Has anyone on here worked with pulling the inner tie rod ends off of a power steering rack? Right now I’m trying to pull off both of the tie rods from the steering rack of my 87 rx7. I have the rack completely removed from the car but have been having no luck getting the rods out . Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Also I need to put these back in so ideas like cut them won't work.

you need to hold the rack in place in a vice or something. then you can use a large pair of channel lock pliers and try to twist the inner tie rod off. they also make a tool that slides over the threaded part of the tie rod and onto the socket end and locks on when you rotate it. its alot easier to do with this tool and when the rack is still in the car so its held in place. good luck.

ok ill post pics later when i get out of work on this.

I need to remove the tie rod and the coupler that the ball joint slides into, there is a small pin pressed in that can't be puched out the other side. Im not sure if this will have to come out. If the answer is yes then it will have to be drilled. The second thing is that on the coupler for the tie rod it is milled to put a wrench on it but have had no luck breaking it free.

this is the entire rack im working with.

this picture and the one below are the part im trying to get off of the rack

This cap dosn't want to come off. Did they come sealed on from the factory with RTV or some sort of filler?

i am pretty sure you dont have to worry about the pin you have in the pic. to get the tie rod off you need to unthread it from the steering shaft. you see right after the ball and socket part of the tie rod it has sides like a nut. you can try to put a wrench on that part and remove but its probably too thin a space to fit a wrench in so using those big ass channel locks, grab onto the socket, and while holding the rack in place try to unthread it. you may need two people because sometimes they get siezed and you may have to put some ass behind it. good luck.
