Can I transfer a title in PA without previous owner being there?

Is there a way to transfer a title in PA without the previous owner being there? I have a signed title but the person is gonna have a hard time coming down with to the tag place with me.

Any ideas?

i believe they have to have it signed and notarized before handing it to you. i did this when i got my gst in florida. he signed/had it notarized, and mailed it to me where i signed and had it notarized.

If its an out of state car, the title must be signed but does not need to be notarized. If its a PA title to another PA resident, it needs to be notarized.

Retarded, I know. But thats how it is.

if its pa to pa it must be notarized (if you know somebody that does notary services ask them to sneak it by or sometimes you can find a shady place that will do it anyways)

if out of state to pa then the signed title and a "letter of sale" is good (but most of the time you dont even need a letter of sale)

Not true anymore. System changed in August. Before if you found a laid back notary they would stamp it without original owner being there but now they are required by Penndot to fax in both driver's license. It looks like you are in PA so if the title is staying in PA then it has to be notarized. Just mail it to him and have it notarized then send it back to you or drive back to him.

Isn't it also possible if the other person signs you on as power of attorney?

the owner will have to take the title to a tag place thats close to him and get it notorized. + a photo compy of his drivers license front and back !. then you can go to any tag place to complete the transaction
