My JDM 98 Supra Build

I picked the car up sometime around November 2nd. It is fresh off the boat, from japan. The car came with some mods from japan (side skirts & rear body kit pannels) but these parts will be removed since the sideskirts are beat to crap and look too ricey for my taste. The paint is black but desperately needs a new paint job.

The engine and transmission are great. It's a 2JZ-GE, with auto trans, and LSD differential. I am planning to upgrade to 6 speed and I have already begun looking for a GTE block and head. Found a stock head for $500 and a nice worked head for $2500. Stock blocks are also in the $500 range, but I would like to find a nice built block which will probably also be in the $2500 range. And the v160 supra 6 speed tranny is upwards of $3500 so, yeah this isn't going to be a cheap and quick build.. I probably won't get to the engine & tranny department until 2013..

For 2012 I am going to focus on getting the car painted, fresh new coilovers, and a nice clean body kit. Also I want to do a lot of interior modernization, add push button start, remote start, keyless entry and security system and upgrade the sound system and all around comfort, handling and appearance of the car.

Here is the car when I first picked it up!

Since the car is rare, I live in the city and don't want the car to get messed with, and it's not really street legal yet; I have to keep it in storage. (which I really don't mind, because I like knowing that the car is safe).

Here are some more random images.

Since today was a nice and beautiful day, I took the day off of work to do some stuff to the supra.
And mostly to change my 19" wheels off my my IS300 and put them on the supra and keep the car and wheels in storage for the winter.
And I wanted to put the supra wheels on my IS300 for winter wheels....
Sounds like a solid plan, and after a couple hours of back and fourth between the two cars I got all the supra wheels on the lexus and all of the 19" wheels on the supra.
Then it was time to put the supra away and go back home.. After I put the supra away I went to the lexus to drive home, and the car wouldn't move.....
And that's when I realized the IS300 calipers are too big and didn't have enough clearance with the stock supra wheels!?!!?! That really blew my mind because the N/A supra has the same calipers!
So to make a long story short, I had to invest another hour or so, just to swap out the front two supra wheels and put the 19" wheels back on.
For time being I have 19's up front and stock supra 16" wheels in the back. IS300 looks amazing... lol

Now I am on the hunt for a set of winter wheels for the IS300

Some pictures of my adventures today.
Yes the stock IS300 hood is on the roof of my supra.
I still have to remove my carbon fiber hood from the IS300 sometime soon before the winter hits.

Got this for a great deal.
Not sure if I want to install it, I might just re-sell it.

Yeah, decided I am going to sell it. $150 and it's yours, price is OBO.

Some more goodies for the supra.... The wheels are for the front, I have to figure out my coilovers & widebody situation before I get my rears...

The lip on the rear wheels, will be deeper than the dollar long ways.........

This is a Non-Turbo Supra, right? 220HP stock?

Has anyone actually tried modifying them without adding a Turbo? It seems like everyone goes FI with these Supra's. The non Turbo's are already pretty fast(0-60 in 6.1 I think) and they can be as fast as stock Supra TT, Evo's, E46 M3's by adding headers, sport cats, exhaust, intake, underdrive pulley, ECU upgrade, and other more basic mods. It would be a more reliable car overall too.

I have a rebuilt V160 built by Bayside services with a 1 year warranty. It was tested and broken in on a trans dyno. Bayside services is the company that does all of Titan Motorsports rebuilt 6 speeds. PM me if interested. Car looks great and looks like ya have some great plans for it

Yeah, non-turbo unfortunately. But I am thinking about getting a JDM Turbo Aristo motor. I have heard that they are really inexpensive and I have better connection than JDM Elite for getting JDM parts DIRECT from japan
I don't want to waste my time with bolt-on parts for +5 or +10 hp. People are all about turbo supras, so I gotta give em what they want!!

Looks great, and sounds like you have some solid plans for it, but how does it take hours to swap wheels?
