ehh - its a law of averages - all you have to do is ensure that you sell enough fuel efficient vehicles to offset the rest of us.
Hell the new Mustang V6 has 300 hp and 31 mpg!

Every time this happens muscle cars still survive. Don't put your ducks in a row, yet.

Well Porsche just made a 700hp car that gets 78mpg and goes 200mph. So in a nutshell I'm not worried one bit. This will just drive progress. O and btw, more efficient engines make more power and use less fuel. So basically we will be seeing more powerful cars that get better milage. I don't know who wants to argue with that. And right now most car engines are only like 35% efficient so we have alot of room to work with.
And in the short run, there are always exceptions for rich people and their toys. Look up the "show and display act" it allows rich people to bring over cars that are not legal here and drive those cars on us roads. Only catch, there's a huge tax. Lol. |

If my 97 Eagle Talon that's turbocharged, all-wheel drive, with an automatic gearbox can get almost 35mpg highway with a decent tune, I think car companies can do a lot better than they do now.
