Ok so since it was officially released at E3. And we are a car site, Its time to have an official thread for what will be the most epic car game ever. yes, forget GT5 (it will be good, but awesome grapics dont make up for missing many important cars and the severe lack of car customization, or the retarded amount of understeer in every car)

GT5: 800 cars.

Anyways, Forza 2 was like a fancy Photoshop for cars. I will take GT5 anyday. Presentation is a lot better than Forza's "hip" vibe and its more focused on driving and mechanics than Forza(fancy movie maker? no thanks). I'm just putting Forza down or anything, it will just never be as good as Gran Turismo.

why compare apples to oranges anyway? they are two seperate games, one is a sim, one is an arcade racer.

that being said i pre ordered forza 3 today.

Pre-ordered the Gamestop Limited Edition for Brandon.... I hope this game and whatever extras come with "Limited Edition" are worth the extra money

On topic, Forza does little for me. I prefer not to have to wear a fire suit to play a game. Sims aren't really my thing.

Both are simulations. I'd like to see you take either one and drive around all of the tracks without using the brake (never mind that new feature in F3). Both employ ultra-realistic physics that make them the closest thing to driving an actual car without actually driving a car.

There is a LOT more to Forza than just the paint feature. Just because GT(1-5) don't even give you the option, don't attack it.

I used to be a GT fan... then Forza arrived. Who cares if GT5 has 800 cars when you get 15 versions of the same car? A little excessive in my opinion. Both are great sim racers but to say Forza is a "fancy Photoshop for cars" is just ignorant.

GT4 is the most boring racing game ever, there is no sense of speed or feel to each car at all...so if GT5 is anything like it no thanks...I try to get into it..because the presentation is awesome...but the gameplay can't make up for it at all.

Forza 2 was amazing and this is only gonna be better...in car views, 400 cars, 100 tracks. Way more customization options not just motor swaps, drivetrains ect.

GT4/5 has/will have the game beat in graphics...but the gameplay is so boring that I'll take the slight compromise in graphics over a game that I can play with my middle nut.

Lol, if you had actually watched both the Sony and Microsoft media briefings you would have known that GT5 will also release in 2010. Also, Forza is a driving "simulator" as Gran Turismo. The truth is that fanboys like yourself never see the two sides of the coin, only theirs. Forza wouldn't be possible with the competition Gran Turismo throws at it AND the fact that Gran Turismo paved the way. Forza is NOT an arcade racer. Test Drive is an arcade racer, Burnout is an arcade racer, Forza is not even remotely close to an arcade racer. Forza 2's gameplay and driving was sloppy at best. Gran Turismo is tight, crisp, and much more polished than Forza 2 was. I have hopes for Forza 3, but I am just laying the cards down on the table on both sides based on previous experience. After all, we are linear beings. We make decisions on past experience since we can't know the future.

The Photoshoppy feel of Forza made me feel bogged down. I just wanted to get in a car and race and earn my way up, not be bogged down by what color to pain the C in my name. Also, the gameplay and feel of driving in Gran Turismo one(which I still own) feels better than Forza. Forza, even now, looks and feels like an arcade racer trying to play ball with the big boys. Gran Turismo was perfect from day one. Those of you saying you don't get a sense of speed obviously never took a hooked up civic in Gran Turismo 1 with hours and hours of dedication into it and race so perfectly you beat rally tarmac cars. Now, THAT is what I call a racer. I never got that feeling with Forza. Even my tuned up cars feel sloppy and they are tuned, believe me. If my racer level doesn't tell you how much time I've spent in that game.

Anyways, I will purchase both games because the only way I can operate is by actually experiencing both sides of the fence, not trash talking a sequel to the best racing series ever based on a game that came out more than a decade ago against an up-and-coming racer that is supposed to "get it right" on its third attempt. Pathetic.

GT doesn't give the option because it's a distraction from the gameplay, which is RACING, not painting or customizing. If you're fine with a game that's supposed to take on Gran Turismo's realism WHILE trying to pave new ground with paint customization, that's fine by me, but Forza fails in one and excels in the other. I'm not denying the paint customization in Forza, but to me it's just something that takes away from the meat of the game. I attack it because it's useless and it never took off like they wanted it to. Their website with live tracking and racing teams, in my head at the time, was my idea of the perfect racer. Then, people just didn't race and started making fancy skittles-colored cars. That's lame, IMO.
Polyphony doesn't let you paint cars or put body kits on their cars because it's like letting you customize your shotgun in Resident Evil. You start concentrating too much on making the gun perfect and not killing zombies. It's a distraction, and if you can't see that then I am sorry.


Also, like I mentioned in the other quote, Forza's graphics are a tad bit better than something I would expect from the original xbox. There's nothing that says wow. Any game engine can make a car shiny, but the level details don't say squat. In fact, Need For Speed shift looks 1,000,000x better than Forza 3. Also, NFS: Shift sounds like a better overall racer. Their emphasis on driving perfection will make it a true racer, not to see how well you can graffiti on the bonnet lol.

All I'm gonna say is..... seriously? One of the main reasons you don't like Forza is because people can customize the color of their car? LOLLLL. Do you not like cars in the real world, too? Cause they can be painted whatever color(s) you could think of. I don't think that "takes away from" anything.. and I don't see how it would take away from the game, either.

I don't care for the paint feature in F2 either, but then I don't use it...it just sits there, like Cheney in the Whitehouse; totally useless. That does not take away from the game play, the live racing, the assortment of cars or the feel of the game. I'm not a big fan of the "tuning" that F2 uses...I like that they have it, but there are sooo many things in it that are inaccurate, imprecise or overly exaggerated (-1.5deg camber is too much? really?). I am looking forward to F3 and to getting a PS3 when GT5 comes out (I don't think I've turned my PS2 on since I finished GT3) because I know it will offer a different type of sim experience. I really wish I could justify building a PC and just spending my time playing iRacing, but I'm not gonna do that, yet.

I love the face that GT5 will have tons of cars.. I like having a wide variety of cars, even if its a couple models of the same thing. I love racing the slowest cars (its kinda fun trying to go around a track as fast as possible in a car that can barely do 80-90) to racing the fastest. Then I love the, I guess for lack of a better work atm, modability in forza... the engine swaps... etc. its great. some of the numbers are unrealistic though... either too much or too little. I wish you could adjust boost and **** in the next...*wishful thinking*

Lol nah but seriously. I love both games. I just prefer Forza. I'll be interested to see what happens.
