phone texting issues. halp

My stupid lg ally is not sending long texts. Ie. Those over 160characters which it changes to two messages. Ideas? Chompsms doesn't help either

I think its a limit that Verizon places on text messages. The same thing happened to me when I was with them.

I come across this issue when i'm texting out of my network. i can send books via text message to people that have at&t; however, if i'm texting someone with Verizon or T-mobile or something else, it's 160 characters per message. I dont think there's a way you can change it...

do you have a backup utility on your computer?

If you do, i'd suggest doing a full backup of your phone, and seeing if there is a way to "hard reset" or set it back to factory defaults, and then check for any OS updates for the phone. With my blackberry, they're done over the air, so it may be in some of your advanced options.

No updates available. I check the phone every day. Seems to be that for some reason its just started this not sending over 160 characters nonsense. Chompsms wouldn't send the full message even when split so I'm trying handcent instead.

odd i have Verizon as well and haven't ran into this.. yet.. well at least using a 3rd party program for texting, and it still not letting me send a bigger text.

My ally changes them inyo multimedia messages when they get that long. Idk if there is a setting on this pos phone to change that or not. I would throw my ally threw their window and tell them it blows and demand a droid x.

ally is a piece of **** and i hate it but it was free. it changes to MMS when it gets to 3 pages. you can turn that off via an app, im using handcent right now. even with breaking the long text up it still isnt sending the full text to only my fiance's phone. we'll have to go to verizon i guess. fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

I've never noticed anything like this before if any phone I've ever had. Weird.

My old WM phones always broke it up into multiple messages for me. My blackberry does not.

Blackberrys dont break the message up, some of the older phones still do, but most newer phones don't. And this is why: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/tech...messaging.html

Summary: Some old guy typed out a bunch of **** and the average length of it was 160 letters, and bang the 160 letter limit was born.
