The next few road rally events are:

4/23/06 - April Showers, Pitman NJ - SJR Rally Page
5/7/06 - Get The Dust Off, Kingsville MD to Brogue PA Mid-Atlantic Rally Schedule
5/21/06 - May Flowers, Pitman NJ - SJR Rally Page
6/11/06 - Picture This, Pitman NJ - SJR Rally Page & Mid-Atlantic Rally Schedule

April showers is a TSD and regularity run rally, the first time through the loop will be scored like a TSD rally and the second time will be scored based on matching the first time.

Get The Dust Off is a fun rally that brings out a good number of older sports cars (mostly MGs) and traverses some fun roads in MD and PA. The rally ends at a winery where they usually have wine tasting and a picnic area. So pack your lunch.

May Flowers is a TSD rally with 'tulip' instructions. 'Tulip' instructions are little miniature maps of the intersections where the entry is a circle and the exit is an outward pointing arrow.

Picture This is a TSD rally with some pictorial clues (photos of things), and it is included in both of the local rally championships.

All of these rallys are very novice/beginner friendly. All you will need is a road legal car, a clock or watch that can be set to the official time, and a partner.

Is this on regular roads where cops would be or is it closed for this event?

These are regular roads, that are open to regular traffic (and cops). The speeds are set so that you do not have to speed. There are also Time Allowances so you can adjust your ideal time if you make a mistake or get caught behind a tractor or something.

Yes for the most part. It is a little harder than that because the speeds have to be more precise than normal.

i really want to have an EVO for that job
but i also want a piece of wilderness so i dont have park officials bothering me when im turning turf into...

In SJ? I don't see that happening soon. However you can go to PA and NY for events. June 3rd in Wellsboro, PA is the STPR. The Eastern States Rally Championship has events in NY.

Don't forget about hillclimbs, the Pennsylvania Hillclimb Association has a series of closed road events.
