2000 Passat GLX- Exhaust Issue

I keeping getting a code that reads Emmission Workshop on my in-dash display screen.

I took it to Auto-Zone and the guy said it was my smog pump. Has this happened to anybody else before?

Sounds like the ignition system, Check coil packs (problem on 1.8T), the wires, make sure the plugs are in tight (not too tight), also check your hoses.

Sounds like you have a VW lol. Start with the coil packs as mentioned above. It seems like no matter what your CEL is for if you take it to a dealership they will check those first anyway.

It's a 1.8T thing, I wouldn't understand

Maybe I should have mentioned this detail too.. smoke comes out from under the hood from the left side of the engine once its warmed up. Smells like burning plastic. It comes out where the downpipe is on a Subaru, that helps.

BTW, this car is N/A.

Cat may be plugged. Does the car run like a slug? Lack of power? What engine?

If it is the 1.8T it could be your engine overlay harness. When I had my 1.8T Jetta I was told that, that melting is sometimes a problem. Wether or not that would cause smoke I don't know.

Nope. The car runs just fine. Idols normally and has plenty of power. It is the V6 engine. Dunno specs, I haven't researched this car like I did my WRX because I'm not planning on doing any mods to it.

Shes from the lower bucks county area. Send her a PM about it. I hate hearing about a problem with a 30V. Makes me worry about mine.

When are you having the car tinted? I work everyday until 5 and with the traffic on the turnpike, I probably wouldn't make it down there until at least 7.
