::Portrait Shoot - Maty Burke (Singer/Songwriter)::

The other day I did a photo shoot for a friend of mine. He is releasing his fourth album in about a month and wanted some shots for promotional use and for the album insert. If you are interested, you can check out his stuff at www.myspace.com/matburke. (I highly recommend you do if you are into Bob Dylan and the like.)

Anyway, here are three of the shots that I have edited so far. I will post more as I finish them. As always, I'd like to hear what you think, good or bad.

Very nice, technically especially. Excellent exposure, they're sharp (Nikon needs to make a 70-200mm f4!), and the DOF really separates your subject from the background where the muted colors work well and aren't distracting. I really like how your lighting in #2 creates a nice rim to separate his legs where there's more DOF.

If I'm really nit picking (pointing out mistakes I would make in the same situation)... the neck shadow in #2 is a little heavy for a picture otherwise with low contrast. I also want a little more life to his expression, but that might be what he was going for.

Thanks for sharing. I'm sure he's really happy with how they came out.

i think they look nice. my critical comment would be that the fill light is too harsh.
