$4000 to spend on a stock 1990 zx auto What to do???

Ok everyone heres the story acouple of you know that i was trying to sell my 300zx well that is no longer going to happen. i had just bought a 2000 audi a4 for 2200 and sold it to day for 4000.(funny what a set of 18'' BBS wheels can do) and plus i helped my uncle cell his 2008 z06 for 49,000 he hooked me up with a 2000 comission on the car so you could say i have had a pretty good week and now that i finally got some money under my belt i wanna bring out what is hidden under my stock 300zx. So im interested in what you guys would think would be good, I def wanna do an exhaust but im still up in the air on what else i would like to do And suggestions?

drop the price, sell it and buy something worth modding.

or

strip it down, sell whatever you can, take the money you've made this week and from selling off random Z parts. buy a motor worth while like an ls1

why not a 2jz?

cheaper, more reliable and easy power, wont have to worry about clearing the steering rack

Have you ever worked on a 300ZX? If you haven't, prepare to be pissed off. I recommend selling the N/A and buying a 5spd TT. My friend has a TT Z32 with about 3-4k invested and he's in the 11s.

I agree with everyone else. Find a better base. You'll end up dropping all that cash into the n/a auto and not getting as far as you'd want. Sell it and find a tt. And have fun with the engine bay.

+1 on the sell. As a former NA z32 owner (luckily not auto) run as fast as possible from modding an NA one. Keep saving; tt z32's with 5 speeds can be had under 10k all day that are real nice with <100k miles. Or get one that needs work for 6-8k and go to town with big turbos/etc...

I parted mine out for 4k plus. If your interior is in good shape that can fetch a ton of cash. Exterior too I had a guy drive 100miles and chop off the headlight buckets. Lots of other parts fetch a premium too since 240 guys use the brakes and whatnot.

TT Swap. Buy a wrecked TT, swap the motor/trans every thing over. You will save yourself on insurance too, its win win

Sell, buy a 5spd 2+2 and a TT motor. VG30DETT's are fairly cheap. Like was said before insurance will be cheaper than if you buy a turbo car.
