Haha, I showed this thread to my gf's dad and told him I'd run his district's best running Charger for pinks. :-P

(my gf's dad is obviously a police officer)

Relax, bud. When the dude with a drag Honda and a boosted daily that has had fast Honda's for years AND fabs his own parts tells the new kids on the block that they're doing it wrong, it's time to step back and learn something.

my roommate has done it a few times...i dont remember if the cops actually race or not, but they shut down the local (small) airports to hold the drags on the runways. pretty sweet idea if you ask me
They did at least.

Some Governor decided that it would be a sweet idea to declare no more using federally funded airports (that are barely used as it) for non aero-motive events.

I ran in those a couple time, people LOVED them. You showed up with what you had and saw what you could beat. Now they are all in ohio...it really sucks.

And both times I went the cops never raced. It would be sweet if they did.

Every beat the heat race I've seen wasn't against a Vic. I've seen them race their Camaro SSes and Mustang GTs. Somewhere in SoCal a precinct had a 10 second Camaro for these nights.

This would be a lot more fun if it were a H2H race on a road course, like Englishtown's road course for instance. Give the challenging car like a 4-5 second head start, and then see if the law enforcement vehicle could catch up. Acceleration isn't everything in a pursuit.

twenty five smackers to run once doesnt sound very appealing imho...

rememberin a local program similar to this a decade back...
event was used to gather driver information... making side money was the icing..

Yeah, the most interesting thing about this to me would be to evaluate how my car performs against real police cars. Doesn't sound like they are really interested in letting you do that using confiscated cars and only drag racing ;)
