The one 'bright spot' for me this winter is that I don't have to run steelies anymore, like I had to for the past five years. Sold 'em and picked up some Mazda3 wheels instead -- which aren't that exciting, but compared to steelies, give me a friggin' break. ANYTHING is better than steelies.

I'd rock steelies if I had some solid winter wheels... I was going to run some blizzaks on the old suby, but they were too big for strut clearance. I rock mustang wheels on a 240, steelies aren't going to seem any more out of place haha |

I have snow tires on the Evo now, but I also have a '93 Mazda Protege to DD. Just got it back from my sister after a year. That car is actually pretty good in the snow, non-ABS ftw.

This is my first winter with actual rims, but theyre not the finish most wheels are, so im thinking about just keeping them on there.
I dont have any other parts to take off... I dont drive in the snow, my car does not work in the snow.

I haven't done anything for the past years, except flip the switch from Sport mode to Economy mode, in both Volvos. I did alright on half tread all seasons on my 240 last winter, but I'm getting some good snow tires and steelies for this winter.

im not doing anything other than washing my car alot more. I have less than the height of a 9v battery of ground clearance and im not raising it. Pics of snow plow guaranteed.

Last year I just put some steelies with snow tires on. This year I'm putting snow tires on my summer wheels because I sold my steelies :-\ . I might raise the car alittle but I don't think I need to it's not that low.

Snow and salt really isn't going to damage the front of your car, just don't play snow plow and you'll be fine.

my 240 goes away for the winter in the garage and i usually buy a new car for DD/winter status, this year its a 95 civic dx that gets snow duty
last year was another 240sx and the year before that a beat ass 86 corolla that hated to start (****ing carb) Last edited by zaneithan; 11-18-2008 at 11:49 PM. |

I throw steelies with a set of high-performance all seasons on the car, that's it. I think I'm going to man up and buy a set of cheap 15" alloys this winter, though. I'm tired of re-painting the steelies every December.
I don't feel like worrying about the salt eating the polished lip on my wheels. Winter mode: Summer mode:
