Anyone play FFXI? (final fantasy 11)

Gonna be getting into this game after I get my new video card in the mail, just wanted to see if anyone else plays and what they think of it.

It looks awesome to me, I just haven't played since FF7, so I've gotta lot of practicing to do.

PC specs:
Custom-built...micro-atx..blah blah blah
Intel Pentium D 3.2GHz Dual-core
Radeon x1600 Pro 512MB (soon to be, thank you newegg)
1GB PC3200
160GB SATA
Dual Apple 17" LCD's...

yada yada yada....computer nerds unite! lol

I dont play teh MMORPG Final fantasy but I have played every other final fantasy game out, including the japanese versions. I am getting a PS3 due to FF XIII being out on it. The graphics look intense. FF FTW! (Except X-2 that was kinda...weak)

If its anything like everquest then I can see how that would be the case.

Grind grind grind... yaaaawn. I quit EQ after about oh....a month.

I hear WoW is badazz, but I dont have a good computer at home. My work pc is the fast machine but I dont think they would take kindly to me playing on company time.

Oh wait lol.

WoW is a ton of fun. I just don't have the interest to level grind, nor pay a monthly fee to play a game. Oblivion is free, and when it gets boring...I can cheat

The players are not nearly as serious on WoW as they are on FFXI.

In FFXI unless you were a certain class w/ a specfic secondary class, with specific weapons you were ignored for group hunts.

In WoW, you can be anything, and use any weapon, and have any professions, and you were eligable and people would hunt w/ you. The profession system is more fun, the making of items, skinning, fishing, cooking, etc, is all a lot more fun. The experience was just a lot better.

I know FFXI has fishing, and the ability to make your own armor, etc. Worst case scenario, i'll cancel after my free trial and try WoW...thanks scapegoat

I have played both XI and WoW. Playing WoW currently and my XI account is on hiatus but I am missing it already.

And people taking XI too seriously? That's really only what it seems like. There is this really deep rift between JP and US players supposedly but I never experienced it and was in a japanese HNMLS for a while; people aren't as up tight as they seem to be.

WoW is taken TOO lightly in some cases and there is this stupid petty spite between players which is absolutely rediculous and you can tell the players aren't older than like 14. It's terrible.

To put it this way -

XI is so much more of a commitment than WoW is but in my opinion it is THAT much more fufilling. HOWEVER!

In XI, money is everything. If you do start XI and want me to start you off with some funds, I can do that. However, find a market niche such as a craft, mining (which is what I reccomend once you get to like 30 which can fund crafts, etc), and earn off of that.

In WoW money is not a concern. If you play WoW and bitch about money you have NO CLUE AT ALL what money problems are. Seriously, when people raid and have like 10 gold repairs that is NOTHING what people buy stuff in XI for, not even close. In XI armor pieces can reach as high as 100+ million, they don't get even that close in WoW

or even..

"wow, i cant believe this house is 300,000.. in texas i could buy it for 200.."

ok? How old are you? haha you also forgot to add TST to that list and frankly, it certainly shows you can't balance your maturity level by calling names. haha

Market research shows that the majority of video game players are from the atari/nintendo age, which would put them roughly at the age of 28-32.

What is your problem, dude? Some people get trashed, some people smoke weed, and some people play video games on their downtime. It doesn't reflect on maturity level at all.

Your general demeanor on this thread however....
