i dont think it encourages gang violence, i can see if ur pants are all the way down to ur knees or something, but a 500 dollar fine and 93 days in prison is just retarded, prisons are already overcrowded, cops need to be busting murderers and dealers

what if you just walked around in your boxers? what if the boxers came down to around knee length...similar to swimming shorts? do those people count as "saggers?" i personally hate the look of jeans hanging that low, but i think its a little rediculous. I dont like the way that lady is holding her purse, it is offensive to me and she should be arrested. jsut about as rediculous to me as that.

edit: since when where gangs affiliated with how low jeans are worn? If your pants hang approx. 4 1/4 inches below your waistline, you must be in this gang!

Am I the only one that agrees with the law? I don't want to see and there is no reason for it either. I can't ever remember seeing a violator of this law and wandering where he is employed. It is a way for the cops to hassle the gangs, so I am all for it.

Well, The jailtime, I would say MIGHT be a bit far, but If it wasn't a stiff penalty for it, they would break it every day and take it as a joke just like they do curfew. tbh.. I think its all parenting as the source for the crimes commited at young ages, you CAN have the saggy drawers look without showing your underwear, and no offense but I Really don't want to be seeing some scrawny chicken boned kid's ass as he walks by. Even more food for thought, It cuts back on Pedophile's "eyecandy" as well. But associating it with JUST gang activity, I call BS on that one. But The sagging of the pants does have a link to crime.. its not the source of it tho. Although this is a dumb law, you guys will forget about this in a week. I just saw they other day on the news of one town trying to pass a law baning couches from peoples decks, and porches..... Atleast with this "sagging" law you will see less people looking like idiots walking around. While there at it they should ban the super long, Look at me Im so gangsta t-thirts too.

Personally, I think this whole thing is kinda stupid. While seeing some tookpick-looking kid w/ his pants at his knees is annoying, to try to link it to gang activity is a FAR stretch. And 93 days in jail?? WTF!? Honestly, this seems like a case of bored police officers looking for new ways to harass the people that they swore to protect. Also could open up a TON of profiling cases. What about some of the skaters who also dress kinda like that, with their pants hanging low? It isn't just the "I wanna be a gangsta yo" kids who do this.

Also, to the comments of drug dealers dressing in the huge gangster t-shirts and sagging as hell pants.... ive started to see some dressing in polo shirts, nicer jeans, and clean sneakers around in Providence (I used to be able to see deals go down all the time at my old apt). So, the terrbile dressing for them around here has started to stop.

if im wearing baggy sweatpants or even jeans, i usually have basketball shorts underthem, as well as boxers. normally you cant see my boxers when thats the occasion...so does that make my basketball shorts undergarments? this law is stoopid.
