I use methanol as an "intercooler".
The Prestone De-Icer is a 50/50 water methanol mixture. It's atomized by a high speed pump and injected at an elbow near the throttle body via a boost activated controller (set to begin spraying at approx 5psi).

i have the SMC kit on my car. I use 50% ETOH and 50% distilled h20. You can substitute meth (MTOH) for the ETOH without consiquence, however MTOH is more corosive so beware on other kits. i get etoh and distiled h2o from work (free > all). But like someone mentioned, meth is available in some deicers and other products but not realy available for sale as MTOH and usualy expensive. Maybe woodgrain alc at h.d. ? Theres much info on nasioc.

Methanol and ethanol are flammable not corrosive. They are solvents. That means they can dissolve something but not eat through it.
And methanol is cheap if you get it from the right source.

Regular windshield wiper solvent is a methanol mix and its pretty cheap and available. That prestone de-icer at 50/50 sounds like a pretty good deal .. but you can't get that mix in the summer ( AFAIK) ..I have it and I love it

Ronald is correct, Methanol is corrosive and much harsher than ethanol. Its ok for injection purposes, but if it is to be run as the main fuel, some sort of premix oil needs to be used, similar to a 2 stroke.
I recommend Power Mist Pure Methanol, its around $30 for 5 gallons. |
