I don't know, I guess I was just expecting a little more umph for 250 hp. I'm not saying it was slow, just expecting a little more kick up the back side in the mid range, more torque I suppose. I liked the power of the WRX I drove today, grunty in the low revs and pulled nicely in the turbo zone. Guess the legacy/outback just needs a exhaust and intake.

Thats basically saying that you understand the context and tone of a sentence that someone says to you in English and it communicates perfectly, but that Portugeuse is an inferior language. In reality it is that you're a Portuguese n00b and you aren't able to properly receive the message that is being sent.
I would guess that a WRX owner might have similar comments if they were to drive your car, or anyone in a new car for that matter.
Hmmmmm, but how come I can hop in a completely different model saab and that feels right? I guess I just speak saab. I really would like you to drive my car some time, I'm curious what someone who has no knowledge of saabs would think.

lol, ****, this has turned into a somewhat decent thread. Give the man a break for liking something different. I mean, if we all bought Subarus, what the hell would that do?! Other than lead to a lot of snow donuts ;)

What exactly did you expect to feel through the steering wheel? If you can literally feel the steering wheel and column move with striations in the road then you don't have your **** mounted properly because that isn't supposed to move....

The WRXs have a good steering rack (compared to all N/A subarus) but are still lacking vs. the STi/Evo and older JDM WRX/STi models. What you might be mis-construing as lack of feedback is the sheer weight of the awd system taking up the shocks and bumps of the road without making you feel everything.

Something that I had to get used to when I first starting driving my car was that there is a lot more "inertia" to move in an AWD car in terms of drivetrain.

E.G. - Heel-Toe downshifting, if you over-rev the downshift a bit too much and let the clutch out early instead of getting a huge lurch with the car like you might with yours, a higher percentage of the energy from the motor will be put through the drivetrain and it will absorb more of the power the motor is making due to the inertia and weight of the drivetrain. This might have been a dumb example but it is one way I can explain driver induced AWD characteristics.

This isn't lack of feedback, this is what AWD feels like.

If you want something fun and has feedback from the road then you should test an M3, S2k, or Lotus Elise. The WRX is a rally car, and if you want to see how the stock model is fun then go rally the sh*t out of it.

i read the first few responses. ill have to agree that the wrx and evo leave a lot to be desired. theyre so brilliant that theyre no longer a drivers car IMO. maybe i didnt drive them long enough. i flogged an evo + exhaust + EXED on my favorite back road. sure it was fast. i wasnt impressed. i guess its too smart. it wasnt all that fun.

then i drove a modded wrx (TMOC, FMIC, upgraded turbo, electromotive, etc etc) first i drove it on a 3hr trip thru south east NY state mountains. it got me a ticket. 65 in a 45. down hill. i couldnt feel what was going on under me. i couldnt tell i was speeding unless i looked at the speedo. it was cool when i hit the loud pedal, but other than that i wasnt all that impressed. drove it again a few months ago. upgraded brakes x4 corners (STi rear, somethin else front), STi g-box, rota slips in 17x8 i think+ falken 615s? upgraded go fast **** and a retune. i was the hotshoe for the retune. it was fast. a little laggy, but 2.0L+big turbo will do that. it still has that "whats goin on under me" feel, but the 615s really helped with that A LOT. 615s are brilliant rubber and i highly recomend them.

oh yea i regularly drive a 240 and a 87 corolla gts. the 240 is a little bit "whats goin on". i fixed that mostly with tein HE and solid subframe bushings. more suspension bits on the way. the corolla is all business. enclosed gokart. if you have the means to pick one up i highly recomend that too.

ill sell you parts to convert a SR5 to GTS

i have just about everything minus the engine, engine wiring, and chasis wiring. ive got a trans that needs rebuilt (doesnt shift from 3-2 w/o rev match, crucial for the drifty) + the one thats in the donor car, i gotta keep one. i dont have the donor car yet (its a rear wreck, IDK how bad, but the guy was still DDing it after the wreck) i could just sell the donor car to you whole after i take what i need. i can help you find what ever else you need too, including an SR5.

email for more info

projectxxx (AT) comcast (DOT) net

AIM = milenko392

spanks!

EDIT: here is the donor car in question, no pics of the rear damage though.

www (DOT) ectoyotas (DOT) com/gallery/friends/jblue/grey12.jpg

whycome no links or imgs? links worked in my f/s thread? weird. ive made more than 10 posts.

I've driven saab's before and I can say i felt nothing of what you talk about. I really think you are just used to the saab way of doing things. That being said I have to say that not all of the saabs are the same. That 9-2x aero is the sh*t. I would pick up one of those in a heartbeat.
