Got offered an interesting trade recently...

Still mulling it over in my head.
A BMW enthusiast and restorer offered to trade me a 1987 E30 M3 and a 1960's right hand drive Mini for my S4.
I've been considering giving her up due to maintenance costs, but obviously the above swap wouldn't do anything for those costs. I would however have 2 cars instead of one, if either broke down. And both have potential to be turned into track cars.
I'm just worried about the increase in maintenance, and until I'm out of college, i think sticking with the newer, although expensive, Audi might be a good choice. I just don't like passing these cars up.

See pics at my Flickr Site

E30 M3 is my alltime favorite euro car. Tough decision man.

Yes, one of mine too. And the 1987 is a factory euro model, catless.
Its in VERY good condition (except for the side bolsters on the drivers seat, which are never in good condition).
Perfect opportunity to set up a good track car. STUPID DECISIONS!!!

wow, i'd wait to hear from some others on likely maintenence issues, but those are two really awesome cars... S4s are cool, but they're not that cool.
good luck with the decision

Wow, if the quality on that M is as good as you claim... you have a very tough decision! How many miles are on it?

Be original, go with the bimmer. E30 M3's are hand built. They are amazing cars.

As much as I would say that would be an interesting trade...I'm going to have to side with keeping the S4. The E30 M3 is going to be almost a 20 year old car. They aren't getting any younger and im sure parts aren't getting any easier to find. Not sure if you are going to be looking into power upgrades but the E30s are some of the most expensive M3's to upgrade power with.

Dude do it, then u could have the italian job chase everytime u get in ur car. and the M3 is just hella badass. listen dude, the s4 is nice, but its no STi, I mean come on lets be real here. hahaha. and even though u got offered this deal 2 yrs ago, i dont think its too late to pounce on that steal of a deal. especially now with the economy, He'd probly give u the M3, the Mini, and his daughter's virginity. ya, that sounds about fair.

pick one you want as a daily driver and have someone who knows what they're doing go over it completely to make sure there's no underlying issues and then do it. That's a once in a lifetime opportunity and you'll keep kicking yourself if you don't.
