well on the dyno over a month ago I blew up my civic, lol. Partially my fault, partially the a-hole who sold it to me. I was under the impression I had a built motor, well I don't and she didnt like high boost levels, lol. lost cyl #1 and still made about 300whp. Tore the head off to reveal the stock ls. I'm picking up another stock LS on saturday to throw in so I can drive the car while I build up the old motor. Here's a quick cell pic with the head off and the lovely "built" motor.

Damn. I'd definitely go after the person that sold it to me if i were you for selling it to you under false pretenses of a built motor. I'm sure that affected the asking price of the car and what you agreed to.

do you have proof that they sold it to you as a "built" motor? and do you have a shop to verify the motor was in fact not built? you could probably go after them in court, or at least threaten a law suit

I dont have any real proof any longer about the motor being built. He had all the "built" items listed in the craigslist ad, but thats long gone. I doubt I have a lawsuit, it was a used car sold as is. I'm looking into it though, and if that doesn't work out I know a few people that can try another option ;)

ya it was over a month ago. with all the snow we had and I was on vacation for a while, I had zero time to work on the car. I also had to help a few friends out with there cars. I had no motivation to say the least, lol.

thanks, ya i'm gonna rock another stock motor till prob the fall time. slowly put together a real built motor and run some real boost.

i wasnt saying you had a lawsuit (although i think you very well could) you bought the car based on the mods the seller said he had done and he lied.... you may want to threaten him with the lawsuit and see what comes of it...

Ahh man that really sucks!

this is why I stay away from buying running cars, let alone modded ones, if you build it all yourself you know whats exactly in it! But better to see this thread then "my civic got stolen" lol Good luck with the build man!

It has a 99$ "ebay special" turbo. That would have been my first clue that there weren't thousands of dollars spent in the engine bay.

Regardless, good luck with the rebuild. I thought it was/is a cool car.

i think you read the op wrong... he said it made 300 hp on each cylinder... I find it hard to believe that it made 600 hp on stock LS at all... it may have made a few hundred and then the rods finally caved in...
