Shudder in OD - 96 Bonnie

My 1996 Bonnie shudders in OD. Its most noticeable when doing 70mph up hill somewhere around 2200rpm and 2300rpm. It is more prevalent when its warm out (70F). If I give it more gas it downshifts and it goes away, if I put the car in regular D it dosent do it at all. I also get the same shudder at different speeds usually low RPMS up hill when the car is in OD.

Could it be a misfire? The trans works perfectly in every other gear.

Transmission fluid is nice and pink. ;)
Reving the car in neutral produces no evidence of a misfire.
There is a CEL, but plugging my obdII scanner in does not work. My scanner dosent receive any power. Result of an alarm that has since moved on?

I stumbled across this thread which meantions OD issues.

I got the readings from the secondary coils

6.7
6.15
6.10

There is a difference between the top and the bottom two coils, but is it enough to worry about? The primary coils I cant seem to get a solid reading on any of them, not sure if I'm getting a good connection. Going to try again when the sun returns.

Sounds like you have an issue with the torque converter. Have you tried power baking it in drive or reverse to put a load on the engine?

When you do that your checking for any missfires. If nothing happens I would assume you have a torque converter problem. At highway speeds the conveter will try to lock up and if there's an issue you'll get a shudder.

My 01 Sable does the same thing only in o/d but there is a tsb abt it. On alldata there is an info only tsb which has good info 01-07-30-010C. I'll send you a copy.

It definitely sounds like a torque converter issue since it doesn't happen in D. (TCC lockup only happens in OD)
It could be the TCC solenoid but there's no real way to know without scantool data.
Could you get your hands on another scantool?
