It does highlight the visual need for wheel spacers and to lower the car. I also really want to get VW Rotary wheels too. Leaning towards lowering springs and the Ecs tuning flush spacer kit. I wish the car had DCC, because they'd be perfect for springs but the factory shocks are pretty good and can take a mild lowering. VWR springs are the ticket. Matched up with the rear sway, the car should be DD friendly and pick up a little in the turns. Factory+ build.

SE is the best trim level for value. Push button start and keyless entry too.

After more research from current owners located in areas with bad roads, I decided to order the VWR lowering springs for the GTI. After listening to locals around DC, NYC and PA, it seems that they'll retain comfort and not give me the issues that lowering springs did on my STi many years back. These springs combined with the rear swaybar should hopefully give my daily driver a little more push in the tush so that it's more fun to drive around turns.
will update after everything is tied down. this is a seriously fun car to drive daily.

I had the B12 on my M3 and loved it's balance but it wasn't the softest suspension (strictly talking comfort levels) compared to stock. Definitely going Bilstein if this setup doesn't retain comfort. Just trying to find a cheap solution that won't kill the cars comfort for my gf since we take my car 99% of the time.

If you have a connection at Bilstein, ask them why the 997.1 can only get the old PSS9 instead of the PSS10 like a 996 can. Pet peeve of mine...newer car, but older suspension options. For the B14's on the GTI, I've seen it go for $950 shipped through a vendor on the forums. The PSS10's can be had for $1606 shipped through another vendor. PM me if there's a better deal than that please. Springs should get here Wednesday with a Friday install tentatively booked. From all the reviews I can find on them, it seems like the ride comfort is retained, but the car's lowered and there's a tiny bit of handling improvement. I have a feeling that out of all these reviews, my car will be special and I'll feel bump stops and mismatched spring rates to the shock valving. VWR claims the springs rates are matched to the factory valving...we'll see how that works at higher speed cornering. My bet is the shocks give up. (Gotta keep telling myself its just the DD)

Perfect. I'll let you know. The springs may be what I want out of the car.

Running the 911 as a daily has higher running costs and i decided to save the miles on it for more fun drives. During Memorial Day weekend, we took it up to Skyline Drive in Shenandoah The GTI is so limited by traction, I'm leery of putting a tune on it without tying the chassis down a little bit first.

You'll love it. All the fun without the drawbacks. (other than traction out of the hole or apex).
