Some domestic for you.

Im new to this site. I drive a 1995 Beretta and Im working on building up a 1994 z26 beretta. Everyone thinks berettas and gm front wheel drive cars are garbage, and I like to prove them all wrong.

Heres my Z26 before it went under the knife...

Now its all torn apart for a motor swap and trans swap. Its going from a 3.1 automatic to a 3.5 5-speed. Im also doing alot of interior work, including new dash and such...

I dont expect to have this car done untill mid summer, but its going to be nice, and be decently quick. Maybe ill see some of you.

Lemme know what you think.

I actually think those berettas aren't bad. I liked the rear styling. They were stupid slow though, I raced a few z26 versions back when i had my 1st acura CL with only exhaust and pulled on em no problem. I love cars like this though, that people will underestimate until you put a whoopin' on em. Reminds me of my car LOL. Good luck with all the work!

Sharp man... I went through a Beretta phase.. Had a 96 Base with the 3100, 92 GT with the 3.1, 88 GT with a 2.8 5spd, and had planned on restoring a 90 GTZ with the HO Quad4.. Not all at once, but over time.. What made you decide to go with the 3.5?? You can do a 3800 Series III swap as well..

good work ditching the 3.1, the teal car looks pretty good.

this reminds me of some ****** that went to psu with me. he had a beretta that was ricey as hell, and since they didnt make altezzas for them, he fitted mustang gt altezzas in there. man that car was tough to look at.

Im going with the 3500 because its not too bad of a swap. The 3800 dosent nearly bolt in, plus it wont run on my computer or fit in my engine bay properly.

Thanks guys!

awsome i was hoping for an update on this myself. next fiero i get towards the end of winter will eaither get a turbo 3.1 with forged everything,a turbo 3.8(that motor currently holds the fastest fiero record but there is 2 built ls7's waiting to run in summer),or else there is a company that produced a twin turbo kit for the 2.8/3.1 motors that was a bolt on deal one fiero gt just sold with one for 2k. keep up the good work on this i almost bought a gtu and not to long after an indy pace car came up for sale but it had rotten floorpans and rockers which i wasnt in the position $ to buy the metal to weld in.

whats the diff between a gtu and a gtz?

A gtu is a nicer GT with really good suspension and a GTU only spoiler. Also has a lip kit on it. If you look at ViRuS's thread, his has a gtu body kit and spoiler. The gtz has the same suspension but a much cooler interior. It has the same body kit I have(z26). It was availible with a 180hp 4 cylinder(5-speed only) and a 3.1v6 (auto only). The 4 cylinder gtz's are actually the fastest factory beretta beleive it or not. They ran mid 15's stock

Its Bright Aqua Metallic. It is a 1994, and a 1 year only color on a z26. So if you ever see a aqua z26 you know its a 94.

This car has gone extreamly far since I made this thread over a year ago.

Finished all swaps
Now runs on megasquirt
mustang mach 1 lip

Then blew the motor up.

Currently finishing a new motor with some comp valve springs, headers, etc.

Ran a best of 14.1 at 98 with the old stock motor before it blew, and that was with a crap 2.2 60'. Ill get it in the 13's next spring.

I had this car at the tristate picnic if anyone remembers. Coolant temp sensor went bad on the way and it boiled over on the way there. Fun stuff.
