It's not that I am talking strictly about the actual money, I am talking about the time needed to gain a certain amount for a certain kind of item which has similar degrees of efficacy in both games.
For example, some of this crap that drops in Naxx/MC/BWL, etc are .1-.3% off of boss mobs which makes it obscenely difficult to get. In XI when you run dynamis the drops off of boss mobs are less than that. Now, these aren't even the rare drops. Relic weapons (the equivalent of Epics weapons in wow) started surfacing in XI about a year and a half ago. Let put it this way, it took about 4 years of playing XI with an investment of over 500 million gil (depending on currency prices - the items you buy/kill for to invest in them) before the ultimate weapons started appearing and the japanese had a 1 year head start on US players. That's what I mean by when you earn something in XI, there is such a magnitude to what you earn that I do not think any other game other than Lineage II can match it (again, after playing this as well there is no way in hell ANYONE I can bitch about the grind in a game ever again). However, the fact is, wow is a much more "easy" game than XI. You can solo 1-60 in WoW (for the most part) while in XI as soon as you reach level 10, you do nothing but party till you hit 75 other than if you are a beastmaster, then you solo 1-75 but you can party if you want to. Another thing I will contrast about WoW/XI... When you log onto wow and you see the sea of people in front of you, you don't have a damn clue as to who is who and you can't read anyone just by their armor. When you log into jeuno in XI and look out into the sea of people you can see people you know just by looking at their armor and their character model. I prefer the latter. In short - FFXI is an epic. WoW is more of a trip. Don't get me wrong, I love raiding in WoW, but saying you "tanked Onyxia as a druid in bear form" (which I did) pales in comparison to "I tanked jormungand as a solo ninja tank while my alliance was recovering from a near wipe" or "I tanked Tiamat from 100-0%"

1. Eh, all depends on who you surround yourself with. I like having it more serious but all their own. I can definitely see how some of the dumbass elitists in XI like to show off. 2. Not really true, its all a matter of how parties are structures. I went to XP as a Nin/Drk before and I outparsed a War/Nin... Of course if he had ridill... I would have been ****ed. If you are talking about retarded combinations like PLD/DRG... of course you aren't going to get invited. It's like having a rogue spec for fire damage O_o 3. In XI you can have all crafts leveled to 60, you aren't restricted to a certain character to be 1 job only. If you have a character in XI you can switch between classes at will and level stuff up again while maintaining any bonus's you might have gotten on that character, you don't need a seperate character for different classes.

I love MMOs and I feel that I need to explain to people the differences about each of the games. If you go WoW? That's great. You going XI? That's great too. Personally? XI is so much more involving in my opinion.
I personally say play XI for a while, and if you get bored switch to WoW. WoW is a whole lot "easier" than XI

Nah, but the skill involved in playing XI is on another level. Tanking in WoW is nothing like tanking in XI. In wow tanking almost half heartedly is a breeze to me. Blink tanking Vrtra? Oh boy, thats hard and I can't do anything else.
I don't expect you to know any of the monsters that I am talking about, but if you want an idea go to google On another note, what would you rather fight... or I just love the graphical style of XI better.

That does look nice. I dont play either of the games cus my home computer is used only for email and stuff like that. The games I play are console based (PS2) and I dont have the hard drive. A couple guys at work play WoW so if I was going to pick one I'd pick the one that my friends play.
