The pictures make him seem bigger than he is, but I assure you, he is 7.5 pounds and way smaller than the pictures lead you to believe!

He came home with me at 7 weeks. The laws say 7 or 8 weeks I believe if that's what you are getting at, which is more so intended to stop excessive breeding from puppy mills and is used as a general guideline. In my case, the pups were done weaning at right around 4 weeks, and the extra Monday for memorial day weekend made last Sunday the ideal day. Also, from everything that I've ever heard, at least for larger breeds, 8 weeks is the ideal time anyway.

Or are you aiming towards something else?

The law in Pennsylvania is 8 weeks unless "the dog has been orphaned and goes to/from a nonprofit kennel with vet approval." I'm not making a dig at you, just saying your breeder should be careful in case they ever have a bitter/crazy puppy buyer. 6-8 weeks is a good time for pups to learn bite inhibition from litter mates and I personally prefer my puppies a little older when they get home because of it.

Anywho, good luck with the pup... adorable! Two Boxers sounds like it's going to be a handful. I'm jealous, though, I love Boxers.

You can definitely tell the difference between an animal raised with its litter and one that has been orphaned. I rescued a one week old kitten from a parking lot who hadnt went through the social behavior phase of being with a litter and could never break her of biting. Word to the wise, always let your pup / kittens get some social interaction before bringing them home, it'll save you a lot of torn up fingers.

Don't worry, I wouldn't take that as a dig from you. According to the AKC 8 weeks is actually the ideal time, while smaller "toy" breeds need to stay a bit longer, though it is breeder dependent. Most trainers suggest bringing a pup home at the 7 week old range, not only for training purposes, but also for socialization. Again, the 8 week law was enacted for the purpose of stopping the excessive breeding and moving of pups from puppy mills.

Out of curiosity, you act like you are a breeder with statements like "I personally prefer my puppies a little older". How many puppies have you brought up?
