i know at CP you either have to own a gun already or be with someone who owns one (which shouldn't be a problem if its a meet haha) depending on when this happens i should have my night sights on too haha

::edit:: i know this will cause controversy, but imho GLOCKs are the best all around handgun one could buy, internal hammer, simple to break down and clean, no obnoxious safeties to fumble with low recoil, you can put virtually any ammo through them with no issues, they are practically indestructible... probably why so many police departments use them and the gun issued to FBI agents!

which one are you looking at getting and are you planning on carrying? (sorry if you already answered that earlier)

wow, i guess im not the only insomniac... if you dont mind a little drive, check out claytons in horsham, classic piston in south hampton, and american arms and ammo in montgomeryville/colmar... i personally like american arms the best, i have never had a bad experience there as a matter of fact and they have some great deals (bring cash)

A strong recommendation i would make is to determine what you want the gun for, i.e. are you planning on carrying it? do you just want it to kill targets? home defense? etc.

have you shot before? What caliber are you looking for? How much do you want to spend?

I would also strongly recommend trying out a few guns before purchasing one... if you want to come to the range with us (me chris aaron and my buddy jon) next thursday you can try my glock 19 (9mm) and i dont doubt chris would let you try his glock 23 (40sw) and jon would let you try his beretta 9... aaron has a 1911 (45acp) that he would probably let you try out as well... There will probably be a few assault rifles in the group too haha

just trying that selection of handguns out should give you a pretty good idea of what you want... two are compacts (19 and 23) of two different calibers but with all of the traditional GLOCK features (no ridiculous safeties, internal hammer, composite bodies, etc) the beretta is a full size and is metal with the more traditional safeties, as is the 1911...

another thing to consider is cost of ammo... 9mm ammo is a LOT cheaper than 40 and 45 and if you get the right kind, can have plenty of stopping power (i use critical defense with the cute little red tip for home defense) and regular crap ammo for the range (another plus with the GLOCKs is you can basically put ANYTHING through them and they will fire, just be sure to clean it after, also a very easy process)

haha yea i stay up late all the time. ill check out those shops saturday. i plan on carrying, home defense and shooting range when i can.

i have shot a couple times before, when i was younger multiple times and then once last summer. as for caliber not really sure and cost prob 700 at the most right now.

i would love to come to the range with you guys but i work on thursdays. right now i have been looking at glocks, springfields, and s&w. i definitely want stopping power though. if i were to ever get into any ****, i want the person to stop not keep coming. i plan on going into law enforcement so i need to start learning more about guns. i love them, just never had the money and the thought of getting one like i do now. its been on my mind a lot lately about finally getting one and going to the range.

South Philadelphia Archery and Gun Shop is having its annual Glock day on Saturday April 17th. This day you can fire every model Glock without a rental fee. The other plus is that the prices that day will be the best you can find anywhere.

I always suggest trying to shoot any pistol before you buy one. This way you can get a real feel od the gun. Each person has their own likes and dislikes. On a day like this you can get the pistol in your hand fire it and see if it fits your needs.

Here is a link to the shop: www.philadelphiaarcheryandgunclub.com

I cant quote prices on current Glocks cause I don’t know them anymore. But when I bought Glock pistols on past Glock days, they were anywhere from $25-$100 cheaper than I could find anywhere else. That day, they get special pricing from the Glock reps who are at the store showing off the pistols. Prices go back to normal after that event.

If you do buy 10mm ammo check out Double Tap Equalizer. It is a hollow point bullet with a ball in the brass. So when you shoot this round you get 2 holes in the target, 1 from the hollow point and 1 from the ball. Its pricey ammo but it fires hot and packs a hard punch.

its just like buying something on ebay only you need to send firearms to an FFL, other parts like uppers and magazines can be shipped to your door
