The only thing I don't like is the gas mileage. I might be getting my 98 SL back from my mom tho which gets a lot better mpg.

Really, I get an average of 22-23mpg in my evo which isnt stock which i dont think is bad at all specially since my truck gets 8-10mpg.

Yeah the best I got was like 21 mpg. But the 3kgt SL goes a lot farther on $20 then the Evo does lol. I do miss having 6th gear too like my vr4 had. But I still dd it and love it lol....it would just be nice to save some money in gas every week.

(Front bumper getting replaced which is why it's not scuffed or anything. Spur of the moment paint job today).

You think all the VGT stuff is worth the headache? From the 1 thread I saw on tuners years ago, it didnt really seem like it made that much more of a difference then just running a straight hx35 or hx40.

Also EklipzGSXkid do you happen to have any 5 spoke 2G GST wheels? (non chrome)

Out of all the cars I have owned/driven, my 94 is still my favorite car.

Haveblue83: I'm really, Really sorry. I've been so overwhelmed latly with all the different stuff I have going on at my garage. On top of that, The 2gB I have with the wheels, Is not at my garage. It's about 20 minutes away, Sitting at a friends house. I will see if he can get me pictures and txt them to me tomorrow morning.

blackvr4: If something happens with you and rob's deal, Just let me know and I'll figure something out. I know I have access to a few different pairs when ever someone needed a set.

On another note, I figured I'll try to keep this alive with pictures. Went to the garage tonight and unmasked one of my gsx's I painted today:

Then I got a flat tire in my dd/winter car. Figured I'd clean it/fix the tire while I was there:
(Sorry, I know it's not dsm content).

I bought another 2g gsx tonight so i'll post pictures of that tomorrow. I forgot to get pics of it tonight with the whole flat tire thing on my dd.

I'm electronically controlling mine.

The problem people are having with running internal WG actuators is that the A/R suddenly changes when you hit the WG pressure. That's why a lot of people are reporting a quick spool that suddenly slows around 6-10psi. With this, I'll be monitoring the drive pressure and adjusting the the vanes to maintain the optimum turbine A/R for the flow I'm getting. Should be sick once I get it dialed in. I'm hoping for nearly the same spool as my 16g.

I haven't started a TST build thread yet because I'm still amassing parts, but you can view what I've done so far here.
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/dsm-...oject-vgt.html

Worth the effort? We'll see. I'm installing this with a pretty extensive data ac system. Pressure and temperature measured at 6 locations. So is turbo rpm. All of it will be logged on an SD card.

But what may really make it worth it is if it lands me a job at Cummins. I was talking with an HR person at the career fair here at PSU last week. My resume didn't impress him too much (2.5 GPA), but when I began talking about the VGT setup and how it was all going to work, he told me he's sticking a note on it and sending it directly to the head of what amount to the turbocharger design department. I'll be seeing that guy again in late April since he's coming back to visit the FSAE team with some more alumni. I plan on popping the hood and showing it as a little impromptu design presentation. He said he'd be interested in going for a ride if it was working by then.

Eventually, I'd like to build a stroker or a 2.4L. It should get real interesting then.

Best of luck with it then! Just goes to show that there are more things than a GPA that can win you a job. Looks sick, and the 2.4 and that thing with what would be essentially a pretty intuitive boost-by-gear set up, it should be extra-rad.

EklipzGSXkid: I will let you know man! I am in no rush for them, since I still will have to buy slicks for them, and thats gonna run like another ~800

knochgoon24: Hey man that VGT stuff sounds pretty neat. but you have to keep in mind with these engines they can handle a lot of power in stock form, however it is really the torque that kills the stock motor. So to me I would want a decent amount of lag so my power band can be higher up in the Rs. I have been running an hx35 on my talon at 33psi for over 3 years now on a bone stock bottom end, (Just ARPs, Cams, Springs/Retainers). My set up is surprisingly laggy but I feel like because I am not making a **** ton of torque down low and its all top end power it has helped my car stay together for all this time. I am planning on switching to the T3 70AR Hx40 so I can make more power uptop and sacrifice a little more low end power. With a high HP turbo like the holset, I would be scared to have 30psi by 3000rpm because these motors make peak torque around those RPMs.

Either way, good luck with you Cummins plans! Hopefully it works out, I would do anything to get an opportunity to work at Cummins!

I'd like to build a motor soon. I may only end up running 20-25psi now. But the nice thing is, I can always slow the spool down.

My car is an automatic, so I'm not going to have some of the problems most encounter with the higher torque setups. Anyone hear of Paul Volks compound setup that just ripped clutches apart?
