Ah the neck area? That can not feel fun.

What's everyones opinion on the bone vs soft skin area(I.E. The underside of your arm) in pain?

No. No fun at all.

And it has more to do with nerve endings than bone vs. fat.
Feet tend to hurt a lot. But so do lovehandles. Very different make-up BUT lots of nerve endings in both places.

The pinch-test is pretty reliable guage. For instance, if you pinch a tiny bit of skin on your forearm it's not bad at all. Do the same to the back of the bicep or the lovehandles/ribs and it sends you through the roof. Chances are you can expect the same contrast with a tattoo.

The back of my bicep hurt worse than the rest of the hours spent on my arm, although my shoulder blade/spinal cord was a bad feeling

Neck was my worst. Definitely. Followed by ribs.
The inside of my biceps were fine, except for the one that took almost 6 hours. That sucked BAD after about 3-4.
Anywhere else on the arm is cake. Shoulderblades are easy.
Ankles kinda suck, for me.
The chest was another that was fine at first but real ****ty after 2 or 3 hours.

Err'body's different. I've had people nearly fall asleep getting their inner bicep tattooed... and others who squirm and writhe in pain for the outer forearm. Ponderous.

I have this one kid who I LITERALLY won't tattoo unless he's had a couple drinks. He bitched and moaned and squirmed for his forearm. Then he wanted his chest done. Lettering under the collar bone. I started it and he was moving so bad it was gonna **** it up. I told him to go to the bar (which is two doors down, conveniently) and down a couple, then come back.
He was gone for maybe a half hour. Had two double vodka tonics and a shot. From there on out he complained, but sat still, which is all I care about.

Did his ribs most recently. At first I refused because I know how he sits, but he coerced me. If he asks for the other side I WILL refuse. NO amount of booze and/or xannies, etc seemed to help him hold still for that sh*t. PLUS constant breaks, which just drags it out... not only making it hurt more but wasting his time AND mine... eff that. That kid is the worst. Which sucks, cause he's a nice kid. Just a real pain in the ass.

Thanks!
Been sucky healing. Two weeks later it's still kinda chunky. It will need some touch-up for sure, but hopefully it will be minimal.
Just a REALLY tough spot to heal... the hair, the constant movement, sleeping... there's no way to "baby" it or keep long hair from sticking to it, even if it's up. It'll probably be another two weeks before it's completely healed.

My recent artwork addition.

This one is for my dads father, who served in the Navy during WW2 and retired from the army reserves after 20 years of service.

Gave my artist a general idea and information about my grandfathers ranks/divisions/ metals/ etc and told him he could come up with what he felt fit as long as it was old school designed and incorporated at least one item from the Navy and one item from the Army.

This was the drawing he sent me and i was stunned at how well he hit what i was looking for in the tattoo. Showed my father and it left him speechless!

This was the final product, couple hours after the work was done.

My next ones are the start of my half sleeves. Hopefully that will be in the early New Year.

i have a full short sleeve which part goes up into the armpit. that wasnt too terrible. obviously worse then the outside of the arm but its not too bad. my arm tends to fall asleep from sitting in 1 position for hours so that helps not feeling anything lol

Excellent work is worth the wait and allows an idea to sometimes grow a bit. Dude's work is impressive.
