I'll say here what I said in the other thread, I really don't care what anyone thinks. I'll drive the hell out of the car and when it blows up an LS1 will go into the bay. This won't be for quite some time so I'm not even thinking about it now, but I do want a Monster Miata and I don't see the point of selling this one and then buying another one to build, or keeping this one and building another cause I don't need 2 Miatas. Besides by the time this actually does happen I'll be well out of college with a well paying job and another car to drive.

Back to the strip tomorrow, this time Atco. Going with spare tire and this time less gas. Gonna try to leave the tree faster. Any predictions?

hey man, I wouldn't worry about reaction times- the timer won't start until you leave the line. You should just work on your '60's

Yea they told me that at dinner after the last time. Jumping off the line before green doesn't count against you does it?

nope. red light means nothing on ur time....the timer starts when u leave the line

Alright cool, thanks for the tips. I'll go back and re-read what Brandon told me a few pages back, hopefully I can come back with a 14.3, but I think a 14.4 is more realistic. I'm more concerned with dropping the 60' down but I think one will kinda go with the other.

Any other last minute stuff, feel free to throw in here, it certainly won't hurt. No I won't be running DRs.

im sure there are more pics somewhere in this 80 page thread lol... i wanted one of those. heard their 6speed tranny is bullet proof. the msm is the best mazdaspeed out of all 4 when if comes to build quality. motor is strong and tranny is unbreakable. am i right??

I wouldn't go that far. I haven't heard of issues but they certainly aren't unbreakable. Some complain about sloppy shifting on the NB 6-speed in general. I'll repost a few pix for you in the morning.

On a side note I just found my original Miata for sale on craigslist. Used to belong to a friend and it kickstarted my love for the car after I got my first ride. I offered to buy it but he wanted to build it to a track car. Then he recently had a change of plans and traded it for a Benz and it's too late for me to get it now. Kinda sad seeing it for sale instead of in my driveway because it was really the one I wanted. 1997 STO #1469 of 1500. Beauty. If anyone wants it I can send you the link it's well cared for and only 78k miles.

The motor is mostly the same between the mazdaspeed and regular 1.8bp. The 6sp is better than the 5sp because of the extra webbing in the case (and the mazdaspeed supposedly has shot peened gears or something), but its not bullet proof. ~275 hp on a 5 sp, maybe 325 on a 6.

Went to atco today. First run, great temps helped me cut my time. Then there was a spill or some nonsense and by the time I got to do run 2 it was cooler and I zoned out. Had a 2.30 60 foot and didn't even take the slip but I'm guessing it was a 14.6 or so
