They're a blast!

I'll talk to the breeder today and keep you in the loop as to if they have a home or not yet.

walmart's motorcycle batteries work for me. Though the last one only lasted a year, I didn't exactly store it properly over the winter.

10 bucks says it is over a year old already! But it is worth it to ride. Get on it because winter will be here in no time.

I posted this on a cat and dog forum, but seeing as we have some cat lovers here too, I figure maybe one of you guys will have an idea.

I have an all white cat named Buster that's a little over a year old. His eyes are green, and he is not deaf. But he's been giving me a bunch of trouble because he scratches himself raw sometimes. The scratching is localized solely to his neck, just below his chin. I keep his rear nails short to minimize the problem, but havent found a solution. It seems like the problem will come and go. Sometimes it will get fairly bad, with a sore around the size of a silver dollar. Then he'll stop, with no changes made to his diet or surroundings, and will be fine for a month or so. Then just as the hair is almost grown back, he'll start scratching again. Hes gone through these fluctuations several times in the 9 months Ive had him. Buster also has an all white brother who went to a different home, but is also doing the same thing. Buster has been frontlined and doesnt have fleas. Im convinced that this is something psychological, because theres no physical reason for it that i can see. Any parasite he could possibly have, I would assume my other cat (Tibbs) would also have, and Tibbs is in perfect health. I find it odd that Buster's brother, in a completely separate environment, is experiencing the same thing. I have done some googling, and it seems that all white cats are somewhat known for problems like this. Any recommendations on how to stop him from scratching? The only thing I can think of is to declaw his back feet, but I'd prefer not to do that.

I have noticed our car scratches alot near his chin, but nothing has become raw or anything liek that so I haven't bothered worring. Passed his vet appointments and is in the process of getting the last of his shots. He is also Frontlined.

Don't declaw him for this. It won't help. The cat will just scratch more but will end with the same result. Check here for some good info http://www.cat-world.com.au/causes-o...tching-in-cats

Have you gotten him checked for mites? Is he missing hair there? You can try putting something like a combination of antibiotic ointment like Neosporin along with Lotrimin (athlete's foot/anti-fungal) on the area 2x a day to see if that helps anything. Or take it to the vet and get a shot of steroids. Has it been checked for FeLV? I dunno, if it were my cat I'd take it to the vet for a scraping to see if it's an allergy or mites of some sort.

Hes an all white cat... If there were parasites, id definitely know about it- and he wouldnt be the only cat in the house scratching (we have 3 total).

Seems like most of the people on the cat forum are saying its diet related, or due to his plastic foodbowl. Im going to switch him to a ceramic bowl, as well as switch to a low carb dry food with a higher meat protein content, as well as start feeding them canned food daily. Apparently the recommended diet for cats is 100percent canned food. I cant afford that, but I can supplement them with a can or so a day.

The cats do need to go to the vet for their checkup, but ive still got to get myself to the doctor, dentist, and eye doctor before I can get the cats to the vet. So for now Im going to make some diet adjustments, and see if he doesnt improve.

My cat requires a ultra high protein diet. He gets Blue dry food daily(ts is really good quality stuff and not too expensive), 1 can of dry a week, and we also supplement him with chicken breast, beef, salmon, ect when we grill because he is a hybrid. He also gets their jerkey treats. I highly recommend it. Their top few ingrediants is always a meat!

You can get the food at your local pet stores.

The wet food only thing is a myth. If you look at the lable of most wet foods, it is like 75percent water.

That was one of the reasons wet food was recommended, because of the high water content.

Check this out- www.catinfo.org

If I could have the reader of this webpage take away just one word from this discussion, it would be "water". If your cat is on a properly hydrated diet of 100percent canned food - and no dry food - you stand a very good chance of never needing to read this webpage.

Water is an extremely important nutrient that contributes to overall health in every living creature. Couple this with the fact that cats do not have a very strong thirst drive when compared to other species, and you will understand why it is critical for them to ingest a water-rich diet. The cat's lack of a strong thirst drive leads to low-level, chronic dehydration when dry food makes up the bulk of their diet.

A cat's normal prey contains approximately 70 - 75 percent water. Dry foods only contain 7-10 percent water whereas canned foods contain approximately 78 percent water. Canned foods therefore more closely approximate the natural diet of the cat and are better suited to meet the cat's water needs.

I hear the reader saying ".....but my cat drinks a lot of water so he must be getting enough!"

A cat consuming a predominantly dry-food diet does drink more water than a cat consuming a canned food diet, but in the end, when water from all sources is added together (what's in their diet plus what they drink), the cat on dry food consumes approximately half the amount of water compared with a cat eating canned food. This is a crucial point when one considers how common kidney and bladder problems are in the cat.

Please keep in mind that when your cat starts eating a more appropriately hydrated diet of canned food, his urine output will increase significantly - often doubling - which is a very good thing for bladder health. Think of canned food as 'hosing out' down your cat's bladder several times each day.

Change his diet and take him to the vet. It may be allergies. I know it's localized to the neck/chin area, but it still might be.

My dog is allergic to a lot of stuff, grass included , so I know how frustrating it can be to manage. He was itching his ears so bad that they were raw, bleeding and had puss. I just took his e-collar off of him yesterday after a week of it on and am now weening him off the steriods the vet prescribed him.

The high quality dry food is just as good for a cat as wet. They have water bowls for a reason. You could even put a little bit of wet and mix it with dry if your concerned.

It isn't dry VS wet that causes illness, its is the quality of the food. Cheap foods are coated in fat to make it taste good but use too much carbs from plants while good foods, Wellness, Blue, ect... use real meats for the proper cars as well as supplement in veggies as well.

Wellness is the brand name? Im going to switch them to that today, and start giving them a can of wet every other day. If they start getting fat, ill back off on the wet food.

And i guess I should make a vet appt. How often do cats need to get shots? Mine havent gotten any since they were fixed a yr ago.

One good thing about cats is they typically don't eat just to eat. They eat what they need unless they were strays and they were used to eating as much as they possibly can when they find food. Or they get junk food and get fat lol

Not sure on the shots thing. I have all my papers at home and the vet typically calls to tell us we are due fora booster and all that jazz.

Blue is the brand. There are others that are similiar as well but many others cost alot more because of stupid crap like organtic(which is yet to be proven better for people it just makes them think so, so def not domestic animals).

This is what we buy is http://www.petco.com/petco_Page_PC_p...FB_BlueBuffalo
