Talk about irony.

My shifter bushing just popped out about 90 minutes ago. Normally it's not a difficult job but when the transmission is hot, it sucks working in that area since everything will burn you. So if you rip open the center console, make sure you do it while it's cool. The only reason I fixed it now was because I'll be up in the morning driving to the Poconos.

Well I took some of my own, Den just went to snap some as well and so I dont get robbed or shot downtown haha

Car is a jewel. Ramps are no problem, power is great as well. 60mph 4th gear foot down and you can feel it push you into the seat, and a bit in 5th as well. 6th gear any speed give it a little gas and it takes off just fine.

Had a small pull to 60ish with a v6 accord 6-speed 2005 year or so. He had me by around 2-3 cars but I was pretty happy anyway.

Pictures are in RAW so I will have them up in a few minutes.

No no, 60 in 4th is right below 5000rpm (full spool of turbo) Redline is 6500

Only good picture of the night I think that was ruined by the orange stage they had set up that shows at the bottom of the picture but I couldnt get around it. There were also moving trucks, other cars, and bikes on the stairs so I had limited room to work but here is what I got.

Shot with a Canon 50mm f/1.8 II

Might be a bit out of focus but anyone that has used the 50mm will know that autofocus on it is not very accurate especially at night and it was hard for me to manual focus cause I couldnt see well through the viewfinder but this is the sharpest I got.

Thanks to those who recomended me the lens by the way, image seperation is amazing and its really crisp (when you finally tune it right)

Try using your pop-up flash. Turn it on before you set your focus. In low-light conditions the flash will strobe a few times to assist your autofocus. Once the focus is set, turn the flash off, and put the lens on manual focus so it doesn't try to focus on something else when you push the shutter button again.

Thats the only think I dont get about the mazdaspeeds. Why they lowered the rev limi is beyond me, and the spool is late for such a small turbo.

For example, im down .2L on you, our motors are very similar other than that, im running a larger turbo than you, and I get full 13 psi at 4400 rpm and rev to 7200 fine.

yeah, the mazdasped motor is the same 1.8BP as all 94+ miata (of course there were minor changes to the engine throughout the years), which is very similar to my 1.6BP.

The thing is mazda felt they needed to lower the rev limot from 7100 to 6500 for the mazdaspeed, and fo some reason the small IHI turbo has horrible spool.

The turbo spools fine, it's the engine managment that dumps the fuel at 4500 rpm to make it feel as though the turbo is at full boost, which it already is several hundred RPM sooner.

Wouldnt that o2 modifier from FM help remedy the problem? Its just what I heard, but if it works, the 100 bucks for it seem well worth the money.

I can actually hear the thing start to spool at around 2500, even when I am not pushing it.

Also, I saw on the mazda-speed boards that some people get rid of the plastic bypass valve and move to a 1.8t vw one...worth the money?? Im new to the turbo thing, but I heard that we can only use certain BOVs that are fully closed at idle..suggestions?

It helps for some, not for others. It's probably how they tune the device.

The only one I know of that is problematic is the HKS SSBOV

Duh, you have a 1.6L. My bad. I was trying to figure out how you were ".2L down", didn't even realize yours was an NA6.

Thanks Bill!

Steve, I read that the reason they lowered the redline was to keep less stress on the engine cause of boost.

So I was just checking everything on the MSM..fluids, bushings, etc.

When I got to the filter I almost ****. The car has a tad over 35k miles on it and it looks like the filter does as well. It was completely jammed with dirt, leaves, and bugs, not just between the grooves, but it was even sticking out of them. Luckily the other side is clean, but I am on my way to the store now to get a new filter...the carelessness of some people boggles my mind. I wish I had a pic but my grandpa was here and when he saw it he grabbed it and cleaned all of the leaves and **** out so I could get to the store.

That much dirt and twice as many leaves came out
