You guys clearly need to save more money. You shouldn't be running up against overdraft limits and racking up fees. It helps your sanity too. Try it.

^^ Yep. I have a set amount of money I keep in the bank, and I will not spend a certain amount if it will allow the total amount in the account to go below that set value. Meaning, for example, I want to have at least $50 in the account. I have $90 and I purchase an item for $60. This means that I will have $30 left in the account, aka unacceptable.

i was shoving most of my money into savings too lol. that didnt help really since i just got fees instead.

I opted out fo the overdraft BS. if i dont got it, i dont got it..

Yeah, Im working on it. I recently made myself a pie chart (lol) to display where all my money has gone based off of my bank statement. I piss away a lot of money on food because I live in a house with two other dudes and no one wants to go food shopping. If I stopped eating out (lol again) I could probably save $100 a month easily. I also just recently started contributing to my 401k again (not that it helps me now, but i figured its a good idea), and also redirected $50/week to a savings account that (theoretically) I wont touch for anything besides a down payment for a house. I make good money, theres absolutely no reason besides irresponsibility that I should be such a financial disaster. Id like to get my sh*t together because I want to be a home owner by 25. That gives me 3 years to save.

Yeah, ever since the switch in the beginning of july or whatever, I havent gotten one overdraft. Its nice to be able to overdraw your account when you know youre going to and REALLY need to.. but in the end its not worth it for all the times you accidentally do it. The overdrafts were KILLING me, to the point that I had to switch banks. I switched to ING because they dont charge overdraft, they just charge interest on the amount you "borrow." Go figure, as soon as I switch banks, the problem with my old bank is solved.

I really hate banks. I hate that they charge you $6 to cash a paycheck if youre not an account holder. A personal check I could understand. A paycheck, drawn from YOUR bank? Eff yourself, im not payin that.
