Well the CV joint has started to go. Which means a whole new axle. I'll have a shop take care of that. The warranty is up in August though. I can always extend it. But parts are too expensive without it. So my options are to extend the warranty and keep the Volvo or sell it and get something else. I'm leaning pretty hard towards a Subaru right now.

How's the insurance on your Impreza STI though? I had a Lancer GTS that cost me 2k every 6 months and if a bog standard Impreza gets insured for similar rates then I may need to switch companies because I'd much rather get a WRX at least.

I have a multicar policy through Geico. I have my STi on with full coverage and then my forester with just liability. My rate is 135 every month. I have a few discounts on my account as well though.

My good buddy has an 06 Outback 5MT and it is only I think like 80 bucks a month and he is through Geico as well.

810 bucks every 6 months by my math. My lone Volvo is more to insure than both of your cars together. By a lot (1300 every 6 months and I have no accidents/tickets and under my parents name). I need to drop 21st Century ASAP.

When I was on my parents I was paying more as well. I had 1 car and it was just liability. I was paying 134 for just that and now that I have 2 and one worth way more money Im paying the same. Contact a couple places and Im sure youll be happy with the result.

I'll have to. Sounds like my car buying options will open up a lot when I switch companies. Maybe I'll even be able to get an STI hatch sooner than I'd thought. Maybe.

Not that I'm rushing to sell the 'Vo yet but all I've gotten so far are some real low ball offers. Sigh.

Lotsa good cars to buy this time round that it's difficult to pick one. Really liking the Forte Koup and Elantra coupe, Mazda 3, Subbie Legacy/Impreza and if I go with a brand new car, the Rio and Accent seem like solid cars considering the size of them. Even saw a couple of low mileage (30,000~) Mazda 6s that fit the price range and looked real good. And this is all within about 2 days of looking.

Personally I have a bad taste for mazda, especially newer 3's or 6's Although they look nice and have a great driver feel. But they are junk and expensive. I loved my WRX and always wanted a WRX wagon, but maintenance is a PITA on a boxer engine (at least IMHO). But my WRX ran fine the whole time i had it, I sold it with 190K miles.
I recently picked up a 2011 2.0T sonata after my mazda 3 **** the bed and left me without transportation. Loving the car so far. They might be a bit out of your range but something to look into, they come with great standard features, more than most of the competition, granted the Kia's and Hyundais are basically the same cars.

My father and I got driven around a dealer lot in a very lightly used (636 miles on it) 2014 Kia Rio and were both blown away with how nice that alone was. It might be possible to find a used Sonata for about 10-16 grand but an Elantra sedan/coupe might be a bit easier to find and cheaper to run overall (gas/insurance). The Korean cars have, so far, been my personal favorites to look at and be in thus far. I like the 3 but all the new ones that I've been finding are already beat up a bit and the woes of working on a boxer have me hesitating to buy a Subaru but the right one at the right price could change that.

May I ask, how has your Sonata been on gas? I get low 20s to high teens now and would like to get low to high 20s for my next car.
