Well the CV joint has started to go. Which means a whole new axle. I'll have a shop take care of that. The warranty is up in August though. I can always extend it. But parts are too expensive without it. So my options are to extend the warranty and keep the Volvo or sell it and get something else. I'm leaning pretty hard towards a Subaru right now.

Volvos are great and I've made a lot of friends along the way but I've always wanted a Scooby and I think the time is approaching for me to get one. I'm looking mostly at Outbacks and Legacys. How's the insurance on your Impreza STI though? I had a Lancer GTS that cost me 2k every 6 months and if a bog standard Impreza gets insured for similar rates then I may need to switch companies because I'd much rather get a WRX at least.

When I was on my parents I was paying more as well. I had 1 car and it was just liability. I was paying 134 for just that and now that I have 2 and one worth way more money Im paying the same. Contact a couple places and Im sure youll be happy with the result.

I'll have to. Sounds like my car buying options will open up a lot when I switch companies. Maybe I'll even be able to get an STI hatch sooner than I'd thought. Maybe.

Not that I'm rushing to sell the 'Vo yet but all I've gotten so far are some real low ball offers. Sigh.
Lotsa good cars to buy this time round that it's difficult to pick one. Really liking the Forte Koup and Elantra coupe, Mazda 3, Subbie Legacy/Impreza and if I go with a brand new car, the Rio and Accent seem like solid cars considering the size of them. Even saw a couple of low mileage (30,000~) Mazda 6s that fit the price range and looked real good. And this is all within about 2 days of looking. |

Personally I have a bad taste for mazda, especially newer 3's or 6's Although they look nice and have a great driver feel. But they are junk and expensive. I loved my WRX and always wanted a WRX wagon, but maintenance is a PITA on a boxer engine (at least IMHO). But my WRX ran fine the whole time i had it, I sold it with 190K miles.
I recently picked up a 2011 2.0T sonata after my mazda 3 **** the bed and left me without transportation. Loving the car so far. They might be a bit out of your range but something to look into, they come with great standard features, more than most of the competition, granted the Kia's and Hyundais are basically the same cars.

May I ask, how has your Sonata been on gas? I get low 20s to high teens now and would like to get low to high 20s for my next car. |
