It's 2gb (2 1gb matched sticks for dual channel). I know it sucks for a main machine but it was for just a dvr so that's why it's not much. I paid like $50 something for it on newegg. There's a restocking fee but they'll let me RMA it.

Anybody who does any real work with adobe products or runs one or more VM's at once like I do can really appreciate a lot of ram. Right now I'm reasonably comfortable with 8gb. I just found out my macbook pro can take 6gb instead of 4gb and you better believe I'll be upgrading it ;)

On a good note thought my friend is having a 4th of July weekend party...hopefully I don't work on Monday.
What did you guys think of the M5? And I'm assuming you guys use the same rear shock mounts I do, they go bad and will clunk over bumps. The subframe generally shouldn't clunk over bumps but rather on forward/reverse loading and unloading of the drivetrain. AND if the subframe is clunking you've probably got some serious issues going on (usually the clunking is torn sheet metal rubbing on other metal). In my m3, my rear shock mount went bad and tore the mount on the one side. Had to cut out and weld in replacement plates to the tune of $750. God I love bmw's but they don't know how to make their cars deal with the power and stiff suspension they bless them with (well my m3 anyway, yours felt pretty posh like my 540).

Oh and you don't seem like a very abusive driver. Your subframe and bushings should be fine assuming you don't flog it at traffic lights like I do all the time anymore.

Allow me to be the first to say - I told you so. How close is it? If it's very close you can generally fight and win to force them to total it.

I'm going down to the body shop and look at the car with them. I will be calling insurance shortly after, as well as looking into loss of value if it remains not totaled.

how much is having that big of an accident, or "act of god" going to devalue the resale/trade in value of the car?

I would assume a car without a clear title would only be worth about 60% max of what the same car would be with a clear title. Atleast that is what reconstructed titled are I have seen go for.

Nick, I would fight that tooth and nail. Maybe get a few other body shops to write a recommendation to be totaled due to structural issues if repaired. I'm sure they would do it for you based on the estimate alone. I would think some parts are just not ment to be replaced.

I feel it's about 75-80% or more when the carfax indicates an accident (but not what it was and severity) and more like 50% if it was a total and rebuild with a salvage title. But I'm no expert, that's just what I'd pay... then again I'm not buying cars in that condition anymore so maybe it's worth less now ;)

So business is down, naturallly as must places are because of the economoy. We have to manage less accounts as we used to. We still have the same amount of people to do less work. I find more mistakes being made now then when we are busy. Just makes no sense and I'm like how about we fire some people, I get looked at weird.

Well it needs the typical BMW maintenance. Front/rear suspension, cooling system, a good detail, valve adjustment, fuel lines.

And I haven't been under the car yet, so I am only assuming. Once I get under it I can see if anything is out of place.
