What I meant big Jim is that it will help your credit score more by getting a car loan and keeping up with the payments, more than just getting a credit card.

It has helped me with the $1200 worth of tooth work I've had in the last 2 weeks.

I know what you were getting at, and i was disagreeing with it. CC will help your credit score more than a car note. Even a personal loan (not home equity, or auto) will help more, because they're based on unsecured debt.

Depending on what you plan with your credit card, i would apply for a "cash back" credit card. You accumulate points that translate into 1% cash back for every dollar you spend. Here is a link to some of the options out there:

Either way, the way they review and rate your credit is dumb. They say if you mess up you make payment and it goes back up. I have a blemish from 05 and haven't made a single late payment on anything since, my score hasn't gone up or down by more then 10 points. I can't wait for the 7 years or so for it to be gone.

I had ****ty credit 5 years ago, my credit has gone up around 150pts since then. im now tier 1 credit.

I have the worst credit EVER. I think it could only be worse if I declared bankruptcy.

Heather in the past had a boyfriend that stole her card and she wasn't aware and ended up getting screwed with the payments and it hurt her score. Don't know how much but she has been good getting out of debt and now just down to her car loan. Only credit I have is through a credit card on which I have never missed a payment.

My credit is pretty good. Upper 600's to low 700's. It's funny, I've tried to get credit cards in the past and I'm always denied. I don't have any cc's either, Elliott.

Discover and amex are nice but you need a visa/mc as backup because not everyone accepts them. I have credit cards with rewards and points and because of this I put everything I buy on the credit cards and pay them off at the end of the month (well most of the time). As a result both of my bose companion 2 computer speaker setups were free and I have like $700 in discover cash back bonus and I already redeemed some of it for gift cards for lowes and whatnot which end up being like 2% or more cash back in total. 2% off *everything* you buy can end up being pretty sweet.

Ugggh...that's an ok score Susie. But today they are so strict on everything. Need at least a 750 and debet to income around 33% for 0% finance these days. It's a crazy!

i like those too Mark. its like a lifetime discount on whatever i buy. its only 1% but it adds up after time.
