Alright so listen to this sh*t I am done at school at 12:30 give or take so im like alright il go to work now. At this point I was mad tired because I did not get much sleep last night so I figured after an exhausting 3 hr work day I would sleep until the meet. Yeah well I though to myself damn I need to eat to have some energy for work. Good thinking. So I drove myself to the wawa on main street. The wawa was packed with ppl because it was lunch time but it didn't matter because i just wanted to hit the atm anyway. So I then drive to the La Vitas pizza place down the street for some cheap food. I spent 4 dollars on four slices of pizza. so I ate pizza and then I had some energy and then im about to walk into work and the door was locked. It turned out I didn't have work today.

not to mention in wrc you have to have constant trust in your co driver and have to interpret what hes saying in split seconds while concentrating on cornering/shifting/braking/elevation changes/road condition changes.

i think the most challenging thing about WRC that u do not find in f1 is the constant surface changes, u arnt just racing through asphalted surfaces the entire time. WRC there is huge puddles, dirt, then it changes to asphalt, tarmac gravel not all wheels have contact on the ground, etc etc. not to mention every time you race on a dirt corner its going to feel different due to the 20 other rally cars that have gone threw it put different ruts into it and what not. dont get me wrong F1 is sick, but i think skill for skill wrc has way more variables that you have to incorporate into driving fast then f1.

For instance, WRC drivers have to be accustomed to driving on ANY type of terrain; snow, dirt, tarmac, gravel, wet tarmac, mud, and lots lots more. And each of these different terrain types warrant completely different driving skills and styles. F1 on the other hand will only compete on tarmac and sometimes wet tarmac.

Also WRC drivers change gear just as quickly and just as often as F1 drivers. And since F1 cars have such ludicrous amounts of grip, you really have to point the wheel in a certain direction to get the car to go there. On a rally course, just because you turn the wheel to right, doesn't mean the car is going to go there.

Not to mention that WRC drivers even need to deal with constant elevation changes and airborne conditions. Something F1 drivers never have to deal with.
http://chrisrhoad.com/wp-content/upl...ne-450x281.jpg

I was mainly referring to street conditions. On a designated 1/4 mile, it would be a completely different story.
First and foremost, if you think that all F1 drivers do is turn the wheel and go, you couldn't be more wrong. They have NO traction control yet they have to put down 1,000 horsepower in a car that weighs 1300 pounds and that weight varies depending on how fast they are going because of the aerodynamic downforce being generated. Cars operate at their maximum grip on tarmac at around 10 degrees of slip angle and that's what F1 drivers maintain all the way through every corner. If you don't know what you're looking at you'll never notice it because they are so ridiculously smooth but it's there each and every time they turn the wheel. You can see it a bit better when they race in the rain... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LloiqutFAeM

Another point that video shows perfectly is that F1 drivers run wheel to wheel which is RIDICULOUSLY scary when you are at the limit of traction and hauling ass not to mention in an open wheel car. Most people think they know what that is like because they've weaved through traffic like a moron before, but I promise you it is COMPLETELY different when you are at the limit of traction, come to Mid Atlantic Grand Prix on the Sodi racing karts when us SJ SCCA autocrossers go and you'll see what I mean, it's INSANE (if you can keep up)

Sean actually said it perfectly when he mentioned huge balls, like I had mentioned Ken Block and Travis Pastrana came from sports that required huge balls and jumped into rally cars with almost no experience in 4 wheeled motorsports and within 2 years were at the top of WRC. Becoming a competitive F1 driver requires MUCH MUCH MUCH more driving experience and expertise than that.

WRC is definitely more flashy and seems to the normal person that it would require more talent, but once you really get into motorsports and have spent enough time at the absolute bitter limit of traction in a corner that you know how perfectly precise you must be with every single little input, you'll understand that F1 drivers are on a whole different level.

When something has foibles and won't handle perfectly, that gives it a particularly human quality as it makes mistakes. That's how we can build a relationship with a car that other people just won't get - Jeremy Clarkson

It's true that F1 drivers are always on the limit of traction. However, in WRC, they are always past the said limit of traction. In fact, they rarely get any traction what-so-ever. Thus, making WRC more unpredictable.

WRC in the Eclipse. Why do you think there is a 12 foot wheel gap?

Ya know..my uncle (who dies recently) has an F1 car. Well, I ALWAYS thought it was an F1 car. Then Sean told me it wasnt a real one. So i asked my mom and made some calls. Turns out, it was a replica Sean ruined my childhood memories lol. I still want it though.
