PSU LPAC are meeting in the BJC parking lot today at 7 and then taking a cruise up to bellefonte for dinner then back. Anyone down? it'll probably be one of the last meets.

About that, this year, they raised minimum GPA's for entrance to majors for some majors like Industrial Engineering for example. I E was rated 4th in the nation in 2010 at PSU. Now we are down to 8th in I E. So to combat that, they raised the Min GPA from 2 to 2.5.

I am sure we will see that trend with even more majors as time passes. PSU does accept people too easily. Back when I started at PennState, there were Freshman that had 850 or less SAT scores combined math/reading. IDK how they were accepted into PennState with that.

^^^ you're in IE? that's what im going to apply for after this semester if i can get into it, have somewhere around a 2.0 right now but emech and compsci are kicking my ass

SAT scores don't mean much once you're in college, considering i got a 700 in math yet i had to retake calc 1

Just graduated in May. My friend tried to get into I E last year but she couldn't. They told her she needed a higher GPA. She had a 2.4 and Elena Joshi (One of IE directors and professors) told her that she would not be able to handle it and they did not let her switch. So she stayed in Bio Engineering.

I took CMPSCI 201 in my junior year with Jennifer. I hated that class, but I needed it for IE 330. I took Math 140-141, 250/251, 231, and 220 all in branch campus in my Sophmore year since it was easier there. Same with EMCH 211, 212, 213, and ME 300. I used EMCH 212 and ME 300(Thermo) to fill my 6 credits needed for Non-Major Engineering Electives. When I came to UPark for Junior year, all I had left were IE classes, CMPSCI, ENGL202C, and 1 General Elective. I took 18-19 credits every semester and summer classes for 3 summers to finish within 4 years. It was tough. If you can get into I E, that is great. It is not easy, but it is interesting and some classes are fun. Lots of group work and reports in almost all IE classes.

damn seems like i should start thinking of other options if a 2.4 didn't get your friend in. i dont expect to graduate in 4 years but have already taken some summer classes to "catch up". i just recently dropped math 220 so i could focus on emech 210 more, but well see how that goes.

SAT just tests your basic knowledge, I don't even think Penn State looked at my SAT score. I had a 1400 on my SAT combined but I was required to take lower level math classes. Currently I am taking Calc 2, going to drop it.

I know this is all way bigger than JoePa, but c'mon. It didn't have to go this way; JoePa didn't deserve to go out like this.

If I was asked to work and you flipped the van I would have been supremely pissed. I didn't have to do coverage tonight luckily.

I just watched a video of it. Some things are dumb. Why would PennState care if people knock down lamp posts and trash downtown?

Maybe PennState would actually care about the riot and do something to fix everyones anger if the students vandalized the campus instead. Not supporting it. Just saying.

I was the riot last night, wasn't anything too exciting. Flipped new vans, light poles knocked down, that's about it.
