But, since his car is a "show car" he wanted the takatas for the obvious bling/JDM factor. Thats all fine, if he wants to spend extra money on harnesses to add to the appearance of his car, then cool.

Any hardcore racer would skip the takatas and get another cheaper (note: not inferior) brand harness, so money could be spent elsewhere such as tires for that weekend.

Meh, I added nothing to this topic really. But if a show car wants takatas, who cares, they won't be used for there intention, but thats what show cars are all about.
Nah, probably not...

I bought them because I liked them and wanted them for my car. I didn't buy anything on my car for a "show" so to speak. I buy stuff because I like what it does, what it looks like, or because it's hard to get, and that's 100% my choice and has nothing to do with this thread in particular. Can you read? You did notice that this was a thread about "replica" takatas which I will never have, EVER. I don't care about your opinion and what you think I need in my car.

Anyways, it's such a shame that someone would need to spend less money on seatbelts just to afford some tires. I wouldn't settle for anything less than both.

and lets be serious. If I wanted to use my car for anything else than what I use it for, such as taking to a track, you can almost guarnatee it would be a hard car to compete with. Keep in mind the car is FULLY built, suspension, motor, wide race tires, carbon wind splitters, fully functional and wind tunnel tested aero kits, rear diffuser, etc so it would most likely be in a high class. I don't really know what else to say, but trust me, the car can be used for alot of things besides being hard parked.

I think he just means that paying the JDM tax isn't necessary when getting a set of quality harnesses. Personally, I wouldn't buy Takata's because of the markup. Especially when companies in the US make high quality safety stuff and I already have relationships with some of them, so it makes getting them a lot easier and a much better price.

As for the replica belts, it's the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Advertising and selling belts with fake FIA certs on them. That's horrible and stupid. It would be the same whether they were Takatas, Impacts, Simpson, Sparco, etc. It doesn't matter, they have those certs and they're more expensive for a reasono. SFI and FIA testing costs money.

Oh, and to the kid running a 6-point harness in an S2000. I hope you have a roll cage. Otherwise, it's not a good idea.

No doubt. That's a response that is on topic and doesn't attack anyone personally. I do agree with you on some points, but I wanted takatas so I got takatas. Now if I didn't have bride seats, and I had sparcos, of course I would have gotten sparco harnesses to match. It's almost like bride and recaro seats go with takatas much better than anything else. Now if it was a full blown race car, who the **** cares what has you strapped in as long as it's going to save your life if you crash. That's the major difference.

My bad thought the point of a messageboard was to express opinions. I was simply responding to the last page or so of off topic posts, I wasn't attacking you or your ride. I recalled your sig saying "hard parkin' all day" (or something close to that) so I figured you were more into the show side of the tuner scene.

Yep.

Since no one likes offtopic posts in the off topic section..

Buying replica Takatas is stupid, especially since you are putting your safety into something with fake certifications, and probably no product testing whatsoever.

Thank you for self moderating this. I don't have time to come in here and break out the milk and cookies kindergarten routine.

As far as the Takata arguement goes, it comes down to the person buying the harnesses. Some do it for points/exclusivity, some do it for safety. If you want to spent $356 dollars on replica belts and cheap ebay safety equipment, don't be surprised if stuff breaks and you wind up in a bad place.

I want to be balla...

Nah,

But when I get my 240 onto the road and ready for shows and getting beat on, I plan on having some Takata Harnesss. I like the way the look... LOL, and that isnt a joke.

I have Schroth racing harnesses in my ZX2. I like them, I dont even feel them on until I reach forward to adjust my radio. I was thinking about starting to do AutoX on the side but dont currently have the time because of school. I'll see what happens next year as far as starting tho...
