Got the front bar on, that's not bad besides having to take the undertrays off for the hundredth time. Whiteline's new grease-free bushings are neat. No grease or teflon tape on the bar and not a single squeak or clunk, good stuff. Rides well too, which was my biggest consideration, tbh.

About the performance... It's noticeably more stable, but not by a huge amount. The car still rolls about the same and it will still kick the tail out if I'm aggressive on the throttle. I'm looking forward to my next autocross event now, I should be able to drive a bit more aggressively without having to baby the back of the car.

I feel more confident anyway, and I guess that's what matters lol

Good to hear.

Now sign up for NNJR event that's tomorrow.

A lot of good STX drivers....plus some of the best in the country running Pro class.

I wish, but unfortunately I had plans already. I'll probably be at MSNE next weekend at least.

I've debated between the PCA event, MSNE and SJR... I'll probably roll some dice and choose last minute If I don't see you at PCA, see you at Warminster.

After a bit of highway on-ramp/off-ramp testing... Pretty darn neutral now. There's noticeably more push on throttle, and it's less snappy off throttle. Easier to modulate right on the balance point of understeer/oversteer. VERY fun and really bodes well for the track I'll have to see how it translates to lower speed more jerky movements at autocross this weekend.

Really wet autocross today! Second time autocrossing in the rain, this time was quite a bit more successful, lol. This run was good for 3rd overall, even though it wasn't the greatest. Tons of fun at least

This is what not to do... very nearly killed the finish line boxes with the side of my car.

Yeah, I had myself a bit worried... Should have backed out of it the first time it snapped.

45.1, I believe, I didn't think to snap a pic of the results. I'll have to put together a side by side video to see where I lost the time. I think I was just being a touch too aggressive on the throttle with the car still turning and also not flowing well enough in some sections, like the back of the course where you had warned me about it being super slick.

Yes, drove the GTI for a few runs in drying wet conditions at Dover last year and that was it. Thanks.

I did a little analysis using the timer in racerender, not the most accurate thing when looking frame by frame at cracks on the pavement or cones

We were fairly even through the first elements of the video, I lost some then gained it back on you in the first left sweeper. Exiting that first sweeper I had speed on you I believe (due to me gaining back lost time mid-corner), until we hit the little straight into the right sweeper where you gained two tenths and another 5 tenths through the corner to the first cone of the slalom, mostly due to my slide.

I made two tenths in the slalom and gained another two tenths in that right hand sweeper where it was really slippery. Immediately lost two tenths into the next left, you were on the power way early still in the right hand corner (I assume being gentle transferred enough weight for it to not spin? I think I may have also squared it off more than you did) I picked up two tenths out of the next left into the next right down the hill.

I lost a tenth through that right hander into the slalom (you turned in later and harder and were straightened out sooner), then I lost another two tenths or so in the slalom (you were way tighter to the cones while very nearly three wheeling, mighty impressive to watch ) and you gained another two tenths from the "exit" of the slalom to the finish line (power much? :p). According to RaceRender anyway, you had be by ~8-9 tenths.

I think that I've gotta work on smoothness still and staying a bit tighter to the cones.

Yea those last 2 turns, I setup better by slowing down more to get a better exit. Finally.

Simmons

ps I had to run the course in 3rd gear

I had a pretty successful autocross today. It started wet but dried out. I finished first in class and fifth overall. The new swaybar made a huge difference in my confidence level, I can really throw the car around now.

My fastest run, about five tenths up on second place:

and my blooper reel... including the first time I've ever spun a car, hehe

Those gold RPF1s look great on the car.

If I wasn't so worried about blowing something in the STI, I'd love to get into autocrossing. Congrats on your most recent event!

Thanks! You should be fine at an autocross. Just remember to check the oil level before and bump up the tire pressures from your street setting (unless you're running proper stiff sidewall summer tires) and it's no big deal. I rubbed some plastidip off of the front lip and put some small surface marks on the paint from the cones and I plowed them at 40+ mph lol

Some fun stats from autocross yesterday: 1.2G steady state cornering, 1.32G peak cornering. 1.23G peak braking (sustained too!) and 0.66G peak acceleration. I'd say the RE-71Rs are pretty grippy!
