My only experience was with a rat in a pet store. I was considering it so I opened the top of the tank to get a better look and the ****er jumped up higher than a 10 gallon tank and took a chunk out of my finger. I was bleeding all over the place. I'll stick with hamsters for rodent based pets.. sheesh.

Was it a feeder rat or a fancy rat? How they are raised as babies makes a world of difference. I have one rat from PetSmart that was stuck there for a really long time and she's socially retarded and is guaranteed to poop and pee on you every time you touch her. My rat from an actual breeder is a sweetheart and doesn't mind being handled.
