This is what happens when I've been doing nothing but sending my resume out, I make dumb mistakes.

Some aren't. and it's likely to get you less far with those. But all in all I'd think it is a net advantage.

Yeah but at the same time it's not fair to hold you (solely) accountable for the accuracy of the product. That's why when I do coding we have test days and other people use my stuff to look for errors and omissions. Still sucks nonetheless.

Maybe times have changed in the last 10 years. I still think it's a good idea if you're not a crappy candidate for the job, and if the job is just one or a couple individuals within the company. I also think it's for the type of situation where you really want to work at a particular company rather than applying for a specific job. You can sometimes have a 5 second chat with an HR person and it can mean a lot. If it's for a job like Table Games Dealer and the company is hiring 500 people for that job, it's a bad idea. You're just annoying then.

For instance, there is a company in Lansdale called Ross-tech that made VAG-COM diagnostic software for VW and Mini. Very much so along my line of interest reverse engineering ecu's, tuning, etc. I think the company only employs like 5-10 people. The job is highly specialized. I would definitely walk in and try to talk to the owner while handing in my resume.

Yeah at a small company like that, you have to make them want you and not vice versa. Show your skills related to their core function. Show that you might be better than his number 2 and you might get hired. That's why I haven't even bothered applying. Because I have nothing of value to him yet. Plus he's a major VW guy and I'm a major BMW guy and I think I'd probably bang heads with him. I exchange emails now and again with an ex employee who had minor disagreements about things so it gives me a window into how they operate.

In other news, the old ground level customs building is for sale for $300 something thousand. I think I should start a shop. That place is a little small but it's literally like less than a mile from my house.

^ I read that too, but was tring to be adult as a secretly chuckled at my desk.

I ready to just go on a diet, get waxed, and become a male stripper. Good salary, much easier then finishing college, and probally way less applicants to have to compete with.

"An analyst reports that not only will CEO Steve Jobs return to Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference stage — he missed last year for medical reasons — but he will be joined there by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdrey said that Microsoft has been given seven minutes during Jobs' keynote to talk about Visual Studio 2010. Chowdrey said that a new version of the development tools software will support native applications for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac OS."

Letting out the secret is the least of not like apple. Apple CEO on stage with Microsoft CEO? It's been since like Windows 3.1 that this happened. It's HUGE. I think what I missed in that statement is that the apps will have to be developed on the windows platform but also happen to run on mac or can target ipad or iphone probably through a virtualized emulator. My dream of having VS on a mac is probably not going to be realized.
