Yeah because its gravity fed on the return that is why Garrett says 15 degrees max so it doesn't interrupt the way that the oil drains from the CHRA.
I wasnt sure how I was going to go about getting an accurate measurement on the angle of it, but I think a solution slapped me in the face yesterday. I just got an iPhone, and they have a digital level application, so I should be able to just lay the edge of the phone on the feed flange and it will tell me the angle of the CHRA... but I have to have the manifold bolted to the engine and the turbo bolted to the manifold for an exact measurement. And I agree with you on the purple thing . Thats the plan... beauty in moderation though, especially with purple.

not too much to update but today comprised of a lot of back and forthing to get the oil drain line fitment just right. i hope to hell that when I go to install all this in the car next time I'm there that it fits as planned now...
back off the car... again. damnit. ![]() final proposed oil drain line fitment. little bit more clocking of the CHRA and spinning the NPT adapter fitting toward the compressor housing to make more room, plus swapping the 45 degree hose end for a straight hose end. I wanted it to be as far as possible from the manifold just because of heat issues, and although it is close to the compressor housing in these pics there is a bit of clearance still. I'll be welding an elbow onto the compressor outlet which will turn away from the oil line so I don't think there will be any further fitment issues between the oil line and compressor housing with it set up like this. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() finalizing the wire running under the car between the alternator and the circuit breaker ![]() stay tuned for more updates this coming week... really hope to have manifold, turbo, oil drain, oil feed, downpipe all installed... then its time for FPR and return lines, finish making the power steering bracket, valvecover gaskets, and lots of other little crap. also have to chop and mark some pipes for the hot side intercooler piping, then take them to get welded and hope they fit as intended.

Way to go, man. It's really coming together, er, again. 3rds on the purple motion, but the less, the better.

That outlet is really close to the drain. You sure your going to have enough room to put a coupler on it and a clamp?

I'm going to be welding an elbow onto the compressor outlet which is why I didnt worry about this. Since the compressor housing is so close to the manifold I decided that it wouldn't be a god idea to try and use a 45 degree silicone coupler and clamp right there, that a better idea would be to weld an aluminum elbow on and then use a straight coupler a little farther away from the heat. Once all this oil drain line crap is figured out and the turbo is mounted then we'll fit and weld the elbow into place and make the rest of the IC piping.

Bryan, those brackets that hold the cross member up, did you just tape them up and paint, OR can those come off without taking off the whole cross member?

Does the supra bay have indents, holes, etc that he smoothed out or no?

what you see there is about it, but from the photos you can see whats going on... all of the spots that are grinded down to bare metal are areas that were modified, its a lot of work... there were some dips that were filled, and there are quite a few raised areas that were cut out and smoothed down.

Thanks Angel, always interested to hear your input.
And D, I didnt notice it before but as for your question about the subframe brackets... if you'd building a magazine quality car you're dropping the subframe to paint it . I mean hell even I did that, haha. When its out you can clean up and paint the brackets... I can tell you for sure that Bill Sr. knows how to do that, since its what he did on mine.Powerwash / media blast / paint your subframe while its out too if you really want to do it up nice. I wish I at least powerwashed mine.

Bryan, if you are really worried about heat issues on the drain line (which I would be). Taylor performance makes slip over heat sheilding that I have used with great success.
