I have NEVER heard of a case where someone grabbed a civilians firearm. Police, on the other hand, have had it happen a lot. Maybe you should go whine about the cops carrying openly.

Hi Dave!

Keep arguing everyone, I like seeing the points made, I'm dead serious.

I'm still buying a gun, so I'm with the OP and his friends.

I haven't either. You can't just "grab" my pistol either. There are security features in place that allow only I to pull my pistol on my Kydex holster, and there's also clips on my Blackhawk leather holster to deter someone from just "grabbing" it.

Speaking of which, I know thieves have balls, but if you go to grab someone's weapon, and you fail, you could end up dead. That is a threat to that person's life, and lethal force would be justified in that case in my mind (I AM NOT A LAWYER!).

So you'd be OK with the police randomly stopping drivers just to be sure they have their driver's license, reg and insurance? There's this little thing called th 4th amendment, it'd be great if more people actually knew what it meant, especially cops.

I don't feel threatened I just don't see why people are so concerned with fulfilling the 2nd amendment.

It's not like we have militia's anymore.
wow there's a lot of fail in this thread...

What business is it of yours how an individual chooses to protect himself? I'm sure there are plenty of people who would never feel the need to modify their vehicles. Do you feel that is reason enough to condemn vehicle modifications? As for the militia comment, we do indeed have a militia, and like it or not, you are part of it (http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/10...1----000-.html), and according to the constitution, should be trained in arms and be prepared to defend your state should the need ever arise.

I'm just curious. Why are you so deathly afraid of an inanimate object? Do you freak out whenever the police are around? I'm being serious here. Also, do you really think making a "big deal" about a person minding their own business but openly carrying a firearm is an appropriate reaction to a perfectly legal activity? Maybe we ought to restrict the 1st amendment just like the 2nd, so people can't cause a scene by shouting at normal people who have simply chosen to take responsibility for their own personal safety and that of their loved ones.

and just to be clear, I do not and have never OC'd, nor will I be OCing to the sonic meet. I do however fully support the rights of those who wish to do so. I really wish people would just mind their own damn business.

She must be scared of cars too! Vehicle related deaths account for more deaths than gun related deaths in the US. But hey, we all have our fears.

Lethal force is indeed justified when responding to a gun grab attempt. There is existing case-law precedence on this.

I totally and 100% see where you're coming from. It's a reasonable position. However, respect goes both ways. IMO, it is just as disrespectful for you to ask someone to change their carry method as it would be for someone to open carry at an event against the organizer's wishes.

BTW, I have never met an OCer who chooses to carry that way in order to "flash it around". For most it's a matter of comfort and ease of access.

That's what I figured, but it's good to hear there was already a case on this.

That's like asking people with V8's not to show up 'cause I am scared of them. I too understand from other people's points of view, but it's whatever to whoever is carrying. IF I show on the bike it may be showing, if it rains I may not go or may come in the Jeep. If I show in the Jeep, it'll be CC 'cause that's what I am more comfortable with.

If people are that worried they need psych treatment to feel the need to walk arround with a gun. Also, when was the last time you or anyone for that matter needed one for self defense.

oh yeah, and just to throw a little fuel on the fire, I believe Dr. Sigmund Freud hit the nail on the head when he said,

"A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity."

I can't remember the last time I needed a seatbelt, but I still wear it every day I get into any vehicle. Why? Because I have seen what can happen if you don't wear a seatbelt. It's my decision to wear a seatbelt. Not everyone wears one. Why carry a weapon? It's a personal decision, just like a seatbelt. MY decision, not yours.

people fear what they aren't familiar with. A non gun owner is quite hesitant to see a gun out in the open.

you can say the same with an airplane- i get nervous on flights all the time, while my friend who is a pilot for US airways laughs that i do.
