Alot of it is personal preferance. Stock i believe the STI runs a 13.1 and the evo a 13.3 But then there are some people who make it into the 12's stock.
However the EVO takes fewer mods to make it quicker than STI's do. The 4g63 has been proven for many years to take the abuse and there is more info on modding them than there is for the STI.

The other thing i would say is for ever 11 or 10 second STI there is, there are multiply times more EVO's running the same times. As well as there fact that there are street EVO's running faster than the fastest drag STI's

What I don't get is why your worried about which is Faster. I didn't realize Sti and Evo were designed for the the Dragstrip. Honestly why not buy a 03-04' Cobra for 5-6K less and have both of them beat. Not to metion the Cobra takes just as well to mods as an evo. Swap the pulley, intake, exhuast, and ECU, tires, and your looking at low 12s. I haven't seen many low 12 second evo/sti. If I were to compare the two cars I would look at which one handled better rathen then which one was faster. Isn't the evo lighter then the sti also. I am just starting to learn about these cars but it sounds to me like the evo is built stronger and the sti has more class in it.

I'd say a cobra with those mods would be into the 11's, cobra's are beasts. Anyways, there are many low 12 sec evo's and sti's, but I don't think thats were the arguement is.

Some people are more concerned about the 1/4 mile. While some people would rather put a nice suspension on and drift/rally. I am a 1/4 mile person.

As for the 12 second cars and the cobra. You have to put hard IC pipes on an EVO with a MBC and be in the 12's for $200. With another couple hundred $$$ you could be in the 11's if you know what you are doing. As for the cobra, the more power you put into it, the more time you are going to sit at the line spinning. I would safely say there are more people that would sit there spinning than there are people who would know how to stick the launch without spinning.

Cobra's break alot less then Sti/Evos. Like I will say again I have yet to see many low 12 second evo/stis. The first thing to go on the Cobra's is the IRS, So you buy a set of Stage 5 axles and put some Drag Radials on and your fine to run into the 11s.

awdlaserbeam - Show me someone with less then 1k on an Stock Evo that runs 11s I won't say anything else. BTW what does Hard IC pipes do compared to not hard ones I guess. Like I said I'm really not into these sti/evos so I'm trying to learn.

The hard intercooler pipes will not expand under boost as the stock ones do and all you really need on the evo is less than 2 g to go into the 11's, what u need is tbe for about 400-500 megan racing, intercooler pipes and intake you can pick up for about 300$, boost controller 80$, fuel pump 80$, cams 440$, and a good dyno tune $250 and your high 11's with good driving without the cams you can pull 12.0 flat, ofcourse if your mechanically chalenged it will take you another 500$ or so to get all the parts installed but if you know what your doing, with a perfect launch and good shifts your in the 11's for about 1600$ Also if you go with some of the tunes like dynoflash u can substract the boost controller cuz it controls the boost.

If you do an AEM setup with MBC and some other stupid stuff and you know how to tune/drive you could do 11's.

Hard intercooler pipes apposed to the rubber ones. Rubber ones expand under boost decreasing air flow. You put metal pipes on they dont expand making more air flow quicker into your motor.

I didnt mean to start a peeing contest with anyone . . .

subwrxkid, bud, i hope you mean dyno sheets, cause i don't think he'll believe anything but that.....

and IMO....If you buy a stock evo for lets say...36,000 and stop there THEN buy an STI stock for 33,000 and spend the extra 3,000 you saved on mods, THEN dollar fo dollar the sti will be faster. PLUS, the dollar for dollar thing only works if you don't finance bc then you'll be spending MORE on the Evo cause of interest

Uh oh. Ummm...dyno sheets will be provided dont worry. Anyways, check the avatart, I'm a subie guy, you act like I wanna admit that evo's are faster. Anyways, I understand the dollar for dollar thing, then why not buy a wrx for 23k, and drop a ej207 w/sz49 and alky for the xtra 10 grand the sti costs? huh?
