it's been a while since anything was done on this car other than maintenance. I'm sticking with my 'no more power mods' attitude so I don't get out of control but i can't turn down mods that make the driving experience better.

I've never heard of these short shift plates before so i figure i'll give it a try. it has the benefits of a short shifter without the hassle of the install and cost.

Here's what mine looks like:

stock piece:

installed:

and since i'm a geek i like to see the difference. the left is stock throw and right side is with the SSP.

1st gear:

2nd gear:

the better comparison pic is 2nd gear. you can see it doesn't go as far back towards the e-brake handle.

How do you like it so far? A buddy of mine has something similar to this on his GTI that's adjustable along with a short shifter.

it's amazing what a little piece of metal can do. i just put it on today and only drove around town to test it out but the whole time i was like, "this couldn't be in gear" since i'm so use to the sloppy stock feel. it is very noticeable from stock. a bump of the wrist is all i need instead of the workout i use to have with the stock plate. i would like to see how your friend's GTI feel with a short shifter along with it.

I actually forgot it was on the car until we went to the track and he had issues all night. Couldn't get it to shift into any gear, but on the street its never really and issue. After the bad night at the track he told me he adjusted it and it feels a lot better but we haven't gone back since.

from the little miles that i've logged on it i can see that happening. it takes a more precise shift and it seems i better know where my gears are. i had the stock shift knob in the pics but i have a weighted twm i'm using now that helps alot.

Really have not done much to it mod-wise. Just kept the maintenance up. New front and rear Hawk HPS, changed trans fluid, new plugs, rotated tires, and re-did a few clamps. While I was at it, I decided to flip the IC from the black side to the aluminum side.

Haha thanks, I wish I could. I think I'm pretty much done with power. When the time comes I'll be doing a new suspension set up and calling it a day. It's my DD so I am saving for a project.
