It's all different styles.

They will BOTH succeed in doing their OWN things.

Plain and simple.

Like Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, Common, Pras, and etc. Rappers are those who want to emulate Tony Montana and the scarface mantra. Everyone is a gangster, has money, done dirt and still in the streets. Everyone has an alias and will kill for whatever reason. It is an imaginary world. They are those that do blur/skirt the lines between the two. Jay-Z does it often, nas too. But alot of people are to dumbed down to listen to the music and see the difference. Hell listen to the ****ing Cool by Lupe. Or his mixtapes. THAT IS HIP HOP. Now then listen to a ****ing Jim Jones album. THAT IS RAP.
Hip Hop is the culture, rap is the music within that culture.

Asher Roth, the same guy that sings that horrible college song is considered the same style artist as Eminem?????

LMAO

Eminem's new songs are pretty decent too, just not sure how they are being "compared". You might as well compare John Mayor to Eminem.

Why are you comparing them? And so what, a college kid who had a more fortunate life than people from the lower class, did what he liked, caught the eye of some powerful people who realized that they can sell him and what he represents, picked him up, introduced him to important people. He got lucky. People are just mad that he did a song about something that simple and got famous and they never got that idea. Let him to his thing, if people like him then be it, if not whatev.

Hip hop is an art of an individuals expression, as long as the person who is expressing him/ herself enjoys what they do, and are satisfied with the result then he or she has accomplished the goal.

New article about him, never finished at wcu.

He reminds me of the guy Sampson from the movie "half baked" because hes so obsessed with weed.

"His plan to share the love begins with the 4/20 release of his debut of his album Asleep in the Bread Aisle, which will come wrapped with a little gift you can use for rolling and smoking the CD -- literally. "

Hip hop is not a culture? Then how do you describe the culture of graffiti, breakdancing, DJing and rapping(rhyming over a beat)?

He is a little confused. Hip hop is def the culture. I think he may be talking about two styles of rap. Hip hop and rap are different in terms of style of music, but hip hop is the culture.
